Guest EXPAT Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 President Obama has picked up a major celebrity endorsement – Betty White. The actress says that she normally keeps her politics to herself, but that she likes “how he represents us.” I wonder if that will help with the older demographic? Quote
Members RA1 Posted May 13, 2012 Members Posted May 13, 2012 I am a fan of Betty White but I wish celebrities would stay out of politics. They seem to know little about anything and even less about politices. However, they have every right to express their opinion, like everyone else. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 What makes you think they know less about politics? I'm sure they are like anyone else. Some know more than others. But you can't deny that Betty is right in this case. . . Quote
Members RA1 Posted May 13, 2012 Members Posted May 13, 2012 Of course I can deny that she is right in this case but that is beside the point. My point is that "movie stars" and others in the public eye are often believed to know more than the average citizen, a point that you assert is not true. At least we agree that they know no more or no less than "others"; now can we agree that they sometimes have "undue" influence? Best regards, RA1 Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted May 14, 2012 Members Posted May 14, 2012 There was no doubt in my mind where her support iay. She has always been an astute, perceptive, common sense woman. As to the effect of her endorsement, like most others, little to none. Quote
