Guest zzrichard Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I can not seem to utilize the search button for past messages, so here is my question. My bf and I will be in Pattaya in January. Usually we stay in Howard's but at the moment they are booked. Is there anybody out there with recent info on decent guest houses in Sunee or other areas besides Boystown. I prefer to pay less then 1000 baht per day tax, etc. inclusive. And before the ignorant people who have never been in Thailand respond, my bf is 24 years old and I have been coming to Thailand for many years so I request legitimate answers and not flamers. Thanks....zz Quote
atri1666 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I stayed in november in eldorado-guesthouse and will do again in 2 weeks over christmas and new year. I booked their suite for 1000 baht/night. The other rooms are cheaper. There is also on the way to day&night the moonlight serviced appartments with rooms for 650 baht/night. Have had a look last time and it is nice. Stayed also one time in popot-guesthouse. Roomsize and aircondition ok but the bed was like steel and so i moved to eldorado. In pattaya always prefer sunee area to stay and my boyfriend is 28. Quote
Guest Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Try the Mosaik Apartments in Day Night area if you like the area. Also, give the new Clubber place a try and see how it is if it is not already booked full. Both places have websites and can be booked via Internet. Quote
Guest laurence Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 There is Ben Mansion in the Sunnee area but perhaps not as nice as Howards. Another option would be the Hotel Koenig (www.hotelkoenig.com) which is gay friendly but a little further from Sunnee by a few blocks. Quote
Gaybutton Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 There is also the Rungland area, one block past Third Road toward Sukhumvit, on Pattaya Tai. It's not far from the Sunee Plaza area and a lot of the bar boys live there. If that area interests you, I would recommend Prima Mansion. Their rooms are clean, just as good as places like Howard's in my opinion, and the cost is around 500 baht per night. Telephone: 038-713 618 Fax: 038-713 621 Quote

Guest zzrichard Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Thank you Brief, On 6 December, using the "twoguys" reservation form on their website I requested a two week stay. As of this date I have not heard one word from them. I have, however, booked successfully elsewhere. Quote
Gaybutton Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 On 6 December, using the "twoguys" reservation form on their website I requested a two week stay. As of this date I have not heard one word from them. I'm not surprised. I hear that sort of thing quite frequently about a large number of Thai hotels and guest houses. So many of them never check that it's not possible to rely upon online reservation forms. I can't understand why they place online reservations on their web sites, and then never check them to see if anyone made a reservation. I have also heard of a number of incidents when people used an online reservation form, didn't hear from the hotel, but assumed they had a reservation. Then they arrived at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning only to find out that the hotel never heard of them, they had no reservation, and there was no room available for them. That's just fine after a long haul flight and arriving at an ungodly hour, especially if other hotels with which you are familiar are also full. I suggest that whenever anyone makes an online reservation, no matter which hotel it is, if you haven't heard from them within 48 hours then you probably won't hear from them at all. In that event I would suggest sending a fax, if they have a fax number, or better still, spring for a phone call. That's the only way to be certain there is a reservation for you. It also can't hurt to carry the hotel's phone number with you and give them a call upon arrival at the airport, just to be certain there won't be any unpleasant surprises when you get to the hotel. After all, even if you arrive at the airport in the dead of night, it's still a good hour and a half drive from the Airport to Pattaya, and that's after having spent an hour or so inside the airport retrieving luggage and clearing customs. If you arrive during the day, you'll be lucky if the drive is under two to three hours, due to traffic and road construction delays. I don't like it any more than you do, but that's the way it is. Guest buaseng Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I'm not surprised. I hear that sort of thing quite frequently about a large number of Thai hotels and guest houses. No doubt I will be corrected/shot down in flames if I am wrong but I understood that the 'twoguys guesthouse' was owned and run by two farangs or a farang and his Thai b/f ?? Another part of the equation is that some hotels/guesthouses (even quite large ones) who advertise an on-line reservation facility use a booking agency and this is not always an efficient operation. I had a problem last month with an on-line reservation in Chiang Mai where, when I arrived, the hotel had no record of my reservation (fortunately they had a room vacant). It took most of my stay in Chiang Mai to sort out a refund of the full room rate for my stay which I was charged by the agency at the time of the booking. The hotel in question (Royal Lanna) were very helpful in that respect otherwise I think I would still be trying to get my money back, even now! Quote
