Guest EXPAT Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Millions of users will be treated to the artist's iconic work today when they visit the search engine's homepage. If you, like hundreds of millions of people all over the world, visit Google’s main search page today, you will see a very special Google Doodle in honor of what would have been the late artist Keith Haring’s 54th birthday. So how should you celebrate the anniversary of the iconic pop artist’s birth? If you’re in the New York City area this weekend (or anytime until July 8th) you could check out the Brooklyn Museum’s Keith Haring: 1978-1982 exhibit. Here you can see some of the artist’s groundbreaking work in the first large-scale showing of his earliest drawings, sketches, videos, and other works. If you can’t make it to Brooklyn anytime soon, you could always get online and take a look inside Haring’s journal thanks to the Keith Haring Foundation’s page-a-day offering on Tumblr. Either way, you should definitely take some time to celebrate the life of this gifted man whose death in 1990 was an all-too-early end to such a unique career. His art and activism are truly missed. So, happy birthday Keith! Art won’t ever be the same without you. And neither will bathrooms. http://www.gay.net/art/2012/05/04/happy-birthday-keith-haring-remembering-queer-artist-social-activist What you will see on Google today: Quote
