Guest Hedda Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 It will be intersting to see what,if any, punishment follows these events. Do you remember last Christmas, 2005, when a young farang was killed on his motorbike in Jomtien by the apparntly reckless driving of a Pattaya city vehicle apparently being driven by a bunch of alleged drunk partying city employees ? Well, I have been watching for a follow-up on that story to see what actions resulted. I haven't seen a word. Has anyone seen any follow-up story on that ? What has happend with apprehending the assassins of Pattaya's chief building inspector who was shot in the face at his home only 2 months ago ? What's happening in the case of the two young murderers from Jomtien beach who confessed to the strangulation of that gay guy at View Talay ? Did they ever catch the slayers of the Japanese gay man at Day/Night ? The problem is that in places like Pattaya, there is almost never any press follow-up on crimes like this, whether they are murder, mayhem or anything in between. There is the sensational photo of the victims, after which the story seems to fall into some black hole with little follow-up. Reckless driving or petty crimes are ignored by the police from the outset and major crimes seem to disapper from pubic consciousness once there's no press to follow-up with the story. Pattaya is becoming an increasingly dangerous place to live, be it irresponsible driving, or outright criminal behavior, and one of tyhe reasons for that may be the lack of press scrutiny over police activities.
