Guest wowpow Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Many friends and family attended to pay their last respects to Brian "Boxer" Wigley at Wat Chai temple Pattaya. The Buddhist ceremony is very charming and the baroque temples, bright sunshine, Palm trees, twittering of the birds and the mass of floral tributes it seemed an very fitting way to say goodbye. I took a few photos so that those unable to attend could get a glimpse of the event. There had been prayer services the day previous and this morning. The cremation is shown. Those attending receive a paper flower and go up the stairs to the coffin where you pay your last respects and place the flower beneath the coffin. The family throw small coins and sweets down and these are quickly collected by the children. Then the coffin is moved into the crematorium and we waited and said our last farewells until smoke rose from the chimney. Click on photos to enlarge Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Thank you for sharing those photos. I wish, however, an announcement of the funeral arrangements had been made on the message boards. I had no idea his funeral was even going to be in Thailand and I had no idea where and when it was to be. I would have attended and paid my respects had I known, as I'm sure many others would have. I hope we don't have to see anyone else pass away any time soon, but in the future if someone knows funeral arrangements, please let the rest of us know too. Quote
