TotallyOz Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 I saw this today and wondered if those of you in Thailand have considered it. It is the new Amazon.com gadget that allows you to download just about all their books for under 10 USD plus subscriptions to newspapers, etc. It looks like it would be a great way to get the newest books and take to the beach for a read. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FI73M...;pf_rd_i=507846 Quote
Guest wowpow Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 It looks to be wonderful an a snip at US$399. It downloads a book in less time than a minute! Will it work in Thailand? For me the link above took and age so I went to Amazon.com and found it there. GT recommended Zinio Magazine reader a year or two back and I just got it. Am I spedy or what? I must say that I am pleased and it's a great saving if you buy foreign magazines in Thailand. You do need a big screen desktop computer really. Macworld is US$19.95 a year ( no free discs ) but one issue can be US$16.50. www.zinio.com and now with porn! Quote
Guest Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 LOL. I also love Zinio and still use it. I love the Advocate and the gadgets guides. It comes straight to my computer when it is new and they have never missed a beat. I have not tried the Amazon gadget as I wonder how it would be in the sun. But, I love to read and hate to read when it is night or dark. I think the screen would be very beneficial for guys like me who need a lot of light to see clearly. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 The info on Amazon.com shows the service area, and it is confined to the Sprint cell phone system in the US, so it looks like it will not work in Thailand, but sure woudl be nice if it did!! Quote

From what I have been reading, it will work in Thailand but not by connecting to the Sprint Network. If you have your computer, you download to it and then transfer the book to the Kindle. That is easy enough to do for books but a bit harder to do if you are doing newspapers daily. Quote
