Never been to Brazil, so this is only an impression, but it seems to me that Brazilians are more relaxed about skin color than are most of us in the U. S. A good friend of mine is from Brazil and I've met or seen pictures of most of his family. There are a quite a variety of colors represented, although no very-white and no very-black.

As my bosom pals will tell you, I find a wide variety of folks attractive. But my very favorite skin color would have to be coffee-with-cream. And I'm very attracted to features that are a subtle mix of ethnic backgrounds. I see a moderate number of such folks in the Bay Area, though never as many as I would like.

It seems that there's more 'mixing-it-up' in Brazil. Which would also seem to lead to less us-against-them thinking, as we would all be "us".

Am I misreading this? I'd love to hear what MER's honorary Brazilians have to say.

(I agree with the OP that there wasn't much range in the clip, though there were definitely some attractive 'blends'. :P )

EXPAT thanks for posting. Some really beautiful guys being featured. We don't seem to ever find these type of vids about the USA though. Interesting how our cultures are so different.

Lookin, I'd be curious as to the opinion of others who have spent time there as to what the locals think about race. I know in Thailand, the darker the skin, the more discrimination. I have met many a Brazilian and the black guys at the saunas seem to get less work. Is that just my perception?

Oz, your perception is very accurate. While Brazil likes to brag they passed civil rights legislation before the U.S., they do discriminate as much as any society out there! Try bringing a white or latin looking escort by the hotel desk and you will get smiles, bring a black escort and he will be questioned! I remember talking to a really handsome black guy at the sauna last year and he told me that he gets far fewer customers(he was referring to local Brazilians) than the other guys!

the excerpt below is from:

The Difference Between Black Brazil and Black U.S.

Brazil has the second largest black population in the world, only after Nigeria. Still, black history is a very recent discipline in schools. The country is considered one of the most unequal societies, where blacks are 90% in the poorest classes.

No, that is NOT just your perception. I was seeing a escort/student who lived in San Francisco a few years back. He was from Sao Paulo and mentioned that racism/racial prejudice existed in Brasil, but the Brasilians wanted to overlook this, THINK that it did not exist. He was of the complexion of some of the hotties who are in the pic.

Not only are the sauna boys discriminated against, note those who are working. Note their complexions, etc. I saw the same thing in Cuba. But one does not have to leave these shores to note racial discrimination; you know it's in our own country but not as much as in the past; we are NOT in a post racial society in the USA.

Tom, thanks for this!

Thanks, guys, for the thoughtful responses. Seems like my impression that Brazil might be leading the way is a bit premature.

In the meantime, I'm going to keep hoping for many more ethnic 'blends' throughout the world not only so that 'they' eventually becomes 'we', but also so that we see many more hotties like Booboo Stewart from the other thread and Shamar Moore from my dreams.

Go back to presenting men from the Southern continent although I've always had the super-hots for Shamar Moore. He had a birthday the other day, and unknown to me had been posted on my Facebook page. I kept him alive until he disappeared as other posts arose. He's in my archives!
