Guest hitoallusa Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 MsGuy if you read Isaiah, you don't have to worry about it... .. I was busy today sweeping lottery tickets on Walmart parking lots in your area. I will give tickets to you tomorrow. I am not sure whether you want dirty ones.. I will keep them. Damn it Oz, you backstabbing Alabama redneck! And now it's too late for me to get into the prayer list on the church bullentin. Shit and no ticket today on the parking lot. This is all your Buddist BF's doing but I'll think of something! Quote

MsGuy, I am so sorry. My apologies. I'll put you on the prayer list for my church to be sure they pray for your sanity when you see me on stage getting a check for 540 million. It is the least I can do! Quote
Members MsGuy Posted March 29, 2012 Members Posted March 29, 2012 God is guiding your hand, Hito! Just keep them until the drawing and ship me the winners FedEx. I knew God would find a way to foil those Buddists. Quote

Guest EXPAT Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I just bought the winning ticket this afternoon. So none of you have to worry about it anymore. Quote
Guest gcursor Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I'm not buying a lottery ticket. Interesting thing is is that if you look up studies of people who have won large lottery winnings, you'll find that many of them end up horribly broke or worse not too many years after the initial win. I'm not buying a ticket simply because I don't think I "need" or "want" that much money. as a side note, you know everytime that I read Hitoall's postings lately, he seems so kind, caring, gentle and compassionate. Guest hitoallusa Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Well something new? Life is hard and difficult for everybody. People are stressed and depressed. At least I can show that I care and share love. We all die and don't know what's there. Amazingly nobody knows. But do hope that everybody can go to heaven and find peace and rest. Our mind is powerful thing and you never know it will come true if we keep dream of it. I'm not buying a lottery ticket. AdamSmith Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I knew God would find a way to foil those Buddists. Thought the lotus eaters ever stood a chance against our tribal war deity? Knew He had to be good for something. (Altbough that second crack does make me think how I grudgingly admire His genius in stymie-img our best efforts to suck up to Him.) (His childish jealousy for praise, worship, etc. notwithstanding.) AdamSmith Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 God is not mocked, AS...your link fails. Galatians 6:7 Hmmm...Dare I press my luck? (Didn't one or two Patriarchs get away with doing so, just barely?) So. Here goes nothing (speaking advisedly): http://books.google.com/books/about/The_Book_of_J.html?id=xDJKaYWzrvwC P.S. Just tested the link and it works. But in case it is Google (not quite the Omnipotent yet but close enough) timing out the link after a number of viewings, here's an alternative: http://www.nytimes.com/books/98/11/01/specials/bloom-j.html Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 The jackpot has just been raised to $640 million for tonight's drawing. WOW Quote
Members RA1 Posted March 30, 2012 Members Posted March 30, 2012 There is a "factoid" floating around that states that after the JP goes beyond about 400 million there is the likelihood of diminishing returns from the fact that so many folks are entering the pool that the chance of mulitiple winners emerges. In other words if one person wins 400 million, good for him or her, but if 25 people win the 640 million or whatever it ultimately is, they will be "shortchanged". Personally, I would be pleased to take the 25+ million before taxes and "run". Best regards, RA1 Quote
Members MsGuy Posted March 30, 2012 Members Posted March 30, 2012 We don't have a state lottery here (in MS the casino lobby sees to that), but I still sympathize with all those folks trying to buy a 6-pack and 10 gal. of gas at their local Kwick Stop. The lines must be getting pretty long by now. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Only hot guys when in college who would sit down and carry conversations with me were Christians. I usually listened to their teachings and went their Bible studies because I liked hanging out with them. Whenever a guy quotes the Bible verses it brings back good memories. Members Lucky Posted March 31, 2012 Members Posted March 31, 2012 Do you guys not realize that when millions of dollars are involved, there is no such thing as honesty and integrity? A consortium has already been picked from among America's most powerful to "win" the lottery. Sure, numbers will be drawn. A trailer trash couple from Montana or somewhere will be selected to claim the prize, but it will, in fact, be paid to the consortium whose turn it is to win. The trailer folks will be given $5000 or so in cash to shut up about the fact that they just fronted for the winner. That's how it is. The powerful don't just give away $640 million. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Lucky does it take 640 million dollars for you to post? Missed you so much!!! Members Lucky Posted March 31, 2012 Members Posted March 31, 2012 I forgot to mention: About six months after they "win," the trailer trash couple will die in a freak accident. People will rub their hands and bemoan the unlucky fate of lottery winners, but the consortium will know how the accident was staged to look real. Hitoallusa, I said I would post less, as the Hollywood stuff does not interest me. But $640 million does. I let the bf buy one ticket since he wanted in on the fun. It is worth a dollar for him to be hopeful all evening. Plus, there was a really cute boy in line with us to buy the ticket. So at least I got my $1's worth! Quote

LOL, Lucky, I don't doubt for one moment all sorts of folks will step forward & eagerly assist in separating the winner(s) from their loot, but that's a little paranoid, don't you think? A milder take along the same lines is that the lotteries are a modern version of bread & circus. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted March 31, 2012 Members Posted March 31, 2012 Sadly, I must report that circumstances today prevented me from re-checking the parking lot for wayward tickets. Plus it was pouring rain, so I probably would have wimped out anyway. I hope no one in the prayer circle will be too disappointed. Hito, buddy, hang in there; your efforts are our last best hope.
