When will Natural Born Hooker be produced? The Los Angeles production of Natural Born Hooker will open in late Spring / Early Summer 2012 for a six week run at a 99 seat theater.

Alright, so what's Natural Born Hooker about? Natural Born Hooker tells the story of a functional male prostitute and his journey through Times Square, porn, five star hotels and Hollywood.

Why do you need $25,000 to produce Natural Born Hooker? Keep in mind, this is a six week run (six shows a week.) Our financial goal covers bare essentials: our main cost is rent. Although we're not operating as a non-profit, we're committed to using the show as a vehicle for HIV prevention & education. We're determined to invite at-risk youth, sex workers, people in recovery, long-term HIV+ survivors & members of other communities who might not otherwise see theater to attend the show for free.

Why would I want to see some play called Natural Born Hooker? Girl, even though you're not a full-time hooker, you've probably felt like a hooker ... once? Maybe? Or, maybe you like the idea of watching a hot actor on stage for 90 minutes. The star of Natural Born Hooker will make you laugh, cry and - if nothing else - get you excited.

What does gay have to do with Natural Born Hooker? Everything. "Gay" is was what they called French hookers (or, courteseans) at the turn of the 19th Century in the demi-mondaine. You know - people who like to party, dance and get down. Same as now, except back then they called that, "living a hedonistic lifestyle, usually in a flagrant and conspicuous manner."

Why would a straight person want to see a play about a gay hooker? Gay or straight, consider that we're all "natural born hookers" who sell if not our bodies, then our minds, opinions, or physical labor to the highest bidder.

C'mon, really, why would I want to see this play? Natural Born Hooker is for anyone who's walked -- or wanted to -- the waterfront: sensualists, exhibitionists, whores who know it & angels who haven't figured it out, sluts, survivors, saints, sinners & sugar daddies. Natural Born Hooker tells that story - about how one boy becomes a man, the price he pays for turning ten thousand tricks and living to tell the tale.

What's this whole "educational" thing about? We're not here to preach but entertain. First and foremost, Natural Born Hooker is a gripping story and beautifully written play. It's "educational" but not in the junior high school / sex education class sense of the word. It's Hot. F'ing. Theater.

Catchy title & clever incentives, but why should I support Natural Born Hooker? Because billions of dollars later, HIV education & prevention is a failure. Everyone knows the statistics: 50,000 new HIV infections per year, with seroconversions concentrated among young people, blacks & Latinos. Facing decreases in government funding (ADAP & Medicare), we urgently need to start figuring out solutions. And art - historically - has sparked meaningful discussions about seemingly intractable issues.

Wait, your bios (under the incentives) seem so short ... who are you guys again?

Ramon Del Barrio (Director/Producer) created the musical staging and choreography for the Academy Award Winning "Best Live Action" Film Short 2006, "West Bank Story!" Del Barrio was also co-director and choreographer for the hit musical "Sisterella," (written and directed by Larry Hart) and the only musical Executive Produced and presented by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Sisterella won eight N.A.A.C.P. Theater Awards, including Best Musical, Best Director and Best Musical Staging and Choreography.

Tomas Mournian (Producer) fiction debut, hidden (2011) was based on "Hiding Out," an article about LGBT youth who escape from gays-to-straight bootcamps into an underground safe houses. The article won numerous awards (NCCD-Pass, Peninsula Press Club & GLAAD) and became a short film produced by George Michael that was shown at Equality Rocks & OUTFest. In 2009, Mournian held the Eli Cantor Chair at Yaddo, was educated at UC Berkeley and lives in Los Angeles.
