Guest EXPAT Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I guess there has been some sort of upgrade on the forum software? I was unable to access the forum on my mobile device at all. do you know why that might be? It loads the forum but you can't log in or can't access any thread. All of the threads are lightened on the screen and you can't access it. I have an iPhone 4s. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted March 23, 2012 Members Posted March 23, 2012 As with any software upgrade there will be some bumps at start up. We are in the process of discovery of the unforseen. I'm sure the techs will get these issues resolved ASAP. Thanks for your patience, one and all. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 The third time I went on my iPhone I was able to log in on the regular main page and then transfer to the forum. But I was unable to log in or log out just from the forum. It doesn't really matter, it was just different. There is a button at the bottom of the iPhone forum page that says "full version" that doesn't work yet. When you press it nothing happens. Just want to keep you updated on my experience. What else am I to do while I'm waiting for my car to be serviced. LOL Quote
Members JKane Posted March 24, 2012 Members Posted March 24, 2012 Noticed a major problem with the update: It doesn't allow Firefox's red-underline spell checking to work! And doesn't seem to have any built in of it's own either! Quote
Members JKane Posted March 24, 2012 Members Posted March 24, 2012 So I noticed the lack of the spellchecking as I created a topic, and again as I made the post above. But now it's working?! Quote
Members JKane Posted March 24, 2012 Members Posted March 24, 2012 Couple more weird things I've noticed: After you've posted a comment you have to leave the thread and come back to be able to edit it. No longer a button to link media, luckily I remembered it's
I'm wondering if there's a more automatic way that I just don't know about. Like how copy/paste of news stories post, keep all their formatting and even links... Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I am able to edit immediately after I make a post without exiting the thread and coming back. The edit button is shadowed but it is still there to edit it. I think JKane, you are using the "fast post" box instead of the REPLY BUTTON at the top. If you use the REPLY BUTTON at the top the media button is there at the top along with the buttons for font etc. Quote
Members lookin Posted March 29, 2012 Members Posted March 29, 2012 I'm one of those who doesn't stay logged in all the time, and sign in only when I'd like to see a photo or make a post. I like the fact that there's a sign-in button on every page, but run into a snag after I do sign in. It always brings me back to the main page, from which I have to navigate back to the thread I wanted to view or post in. It would be really nice if it would bring me back to the page from which I signed in. Of course, this is not the worst thing that ever happened to me and, if it can't be changed, I'm sure I'll get by. But it would be a nice-to-have if the programmers could manage it. I also like the fact that the site is looking a little better every day and would be delighted if I could say the same. Quote
Members JKane Posted March 30, 2012 Members Posted March 30, 2012 The way photos are handled seems a bit problematic... I didn't spend much time trying, but could *not* link to a photo in a thread (used to be able to 'copy image location' than paste in into image popup) nor could I save the picture that opened up in slideshow... The report button is there (faded but working) but edit isn't, until I at least re-load the page. Also when it's in this mode I can't see some of my details around my avatar, like number of posts. I'll remember to try the top reply one of these days and see if it works better. Quote
Members JKane Posted April 1, 2012 Members Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Test of top "reply to this topic" button... Edit: yep, that works as expected. But quotes or replying from the bottom of the thread don't... Edited April 1, 2012 by JKane Quote
Members lookin Posted April 12, 2012 Members Posted April 12, 2012 Two things I've come to appreciate about the new software have to do with images. First, it doesn't fuss when an image is wider than 600 pixels. It just displays it at the maximum size it can. The old software would tell you how much it shrunk the image, as if anyone gave a shit. Second, it seems to allow more than ten images in a post. Not sure what the limit is, if any, but it now seems possible to get a lot more images in a single post. As far as I know, the other site is still limited to four images per post, needlessly chopping up a series of images. The only significant improvement I'm still hoping for is not only to be able to log in from any page but also to be automatically put back on the same page after login, instead of having to meander back manually. I expect the programmers would have to somehow capture the page from which login was initiated and return to it after a successful login. Perhaps no one else minds the extra clicks, so I'm not holding my breath. Quote

It made it easy but if cannot be done here not the end of the world, maybe the end of a city or two though Since I cannot spell I love to see the spell check program enabled. It seemed to be working for like a day then vanished Quote
Guest FourAces Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I just noticed while using Firefox the spell function is working again .. thanks TY & OZ Quote
