Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Members Posted March 5, 2012 So yesterday I went to the first spring training game I had ever attended. It was in Phoenix, Arizona, and was played between the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres. The two teams share a spring training facility in Peoria, Arizona. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I am glad you like baseball. I have never been able to stay awake during either a golf game or a baseball game. I don't know why they bore me to death like they do, but my friends who love baseball are fanatics about it. So I'm glad you like it because it is part of American history and I just can't get into it at all. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 It doesn't really matter who wins the games, especially at the very beginning of the spring training season. I went to see Jesus Montero, the hot young catching prospect traded to Seattle from the New York Yankees. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 I was also interested in seeing the legendary Japanese player, Ichiro Suzuki, who goes by only the name Ichiro. However, the aging Ichiro was given the day off, so I got but a glimpse of him. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 The Peoria sports Complex seats about 11,000, and was full yesterday for the game, with many patrons using the lawn area for picnics. (The word Peoria there was removed for these games.) Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 The Mariners were leading 4-0 when most of the experienced players left the field to let the younger ones have some time. Since it was 84, and I was sitting in the sun, ( a good seat though!) I left too. I headed for the parking lot, taking note of some of the other playing fields which arre used for practice. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 So, after some rest, lurkerspeaks was kind enough to take me to dinner at a Phoenix hotspot: Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 The best view was of the busboy, but I didn't get his picture! He wasn't, however, as cute as this Google found busboy: Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 We then made the obligatory visit to Dick's Cabaret, where young men have been know to dance nude. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 There were no Asian dancers: Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 This fellow wasn't there either, but he could have been, since many of the dancers were white, along with at least one Mexican. Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 One dancer, actually a pretty good looking guy, should have been wearing this t-shirt: Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 Both lurkerspeaks and I thought he was inviting us to help him lower his shorts. He wasn't. So when I tried, I Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 After her performance, she came up to me and said I has not not better dare do that again! Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 Upset, lurkerspeaks and I headed for the door: Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 But, first lurker had a few things to say: (Including telling the other dancers that they were losing money because one of their fellow dancers was nasty to us.) Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 They weren't happy at that, as business was slow! Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 So, the baseball game was fun, dinner was good, but ultimately at Dick's, I struck out! Add the OUT on your own! And that was my trip to Phoenix, told in less than 30 panels in one hour! Quote
Members Lucky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Members Posted March 5, 2012 MsGuy, has it occurred to you that I like telling stories in that format? And it is not against the rules, unless you are trying to build your post count, which I am not, and unless you do 30 posts in less than an hour, which I didn't. I think telling a story like that, where each post is sort of its own episode, is fun, and I think many agree with me! Burma Shave Quote
AdamSmith Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Time-honored tradition! I must have wrung 30 or 40 posts out of that long Wallace Stevens poem. Not counting the side excursions into spittoons and so forth. I owe his estate a royalty check, I suppose. Quote
Guest lurkerspeaks Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 It was great seeing Lucky again. We talked about Rio and Thailand over a nice steak dinner. Unfortunately, (and much to my embarrassment) a very sour dancer at Dicks ruined the evening there. Pretty nude boys may cum and go, but good friends last a lifetime. Thanks again for the company last nite, Lucky. And be sure to have fun in Rio on my behalf. Quote
