Baht Bus Fares Likely to Increase

One of the more controversial issues in Pattaya are the baht bus fares, 5 baht for Thais, 10 baht for "farang." After the first of the year, according to the PATTAYA MAIL, the fares are likely to increase. Click the following link for the story:

But did you read the story just above that? Pattaya gets 25 new taxis, Bangkok style!!

but they are run by the same co-op that runs the baht buses and given the ripoffs by meter taxis in tourist areas in Bangkok I am not holding out much hope!

The baht busses have been collecting the same amount ever since my first visit to Thailand - this was over 20 years ago when things were much cheaper (including the bar fine and the tip ). With the rising cost of living and fuel, I'm surprised that the fare has not increased long before now.
