Guest EXPAT Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I'm going to use this thread to blog about the Red Carpet, The Oscars and the winners and losers for the 84th Annual Academy Awards. The Ryan Seacrest show has started on E! He is still the best at doing the Red Carpet of anyone out there. I think the ABC network should hire him once his E! contract expires. I hear he may be leaving E! News anyway after this year. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy the Oscars, known as the SuperBowl for gay men. . . Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 The pre-show on E! had a couple of interesting things but one of the most interesting was Darren Criss singing with Kermit The Frog. What's not to like in this picture? Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I'm about to faint!!! Darren I love you to death!!!! Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Glenn Close and Octavia Spencer are so far the best dressed that I've seen on the Red Carpet. Both Viola Davis and Glenn Close are wearing green. That's an unusual color for The Red Carpet. I will have pictures later when I can find some good ones. But I'll put one up of Viola Davis. Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 I'm here! I liked the Darren Criss picture. Also, I am so surprised that the red carpet stuff is already started. Usually you think of this stuff happening at night... Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 OMG! Is that the Dictator? That Dave Karger is a doll! He's gay too! Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I really like Glenn Close's green dress. First pic. I'm NOT a fan of Melissa McCarthy's dress. She looks like a big pillow. Second pic. And Jessica Chastain (from The HELP) looks like she is wearing a drapery. Third pic. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Octavia Spencer is one of the BEST dressed of the night so far. This dress really compliments her body. First PIC. Rooney Mara's dress really washes out her skin. Definitely not a best dressed. She needed a bolder color. Second pic. Michelle Williams looked fantastic in this slightly off red dress. Third pic. Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 OMG! Is that the Dictator? I am NOT a fan Sacha Baron Cohen at all. I guess that was supposed to be comedy??? But throwing an urn of what was supposed to be Kim Jung Ill's ashes all over Ryan Seacrest was tacky and not funny. I'm sure it will be aired over and over again everywhere so it will help The Dictator's movie perhaps and maybe Ryan Seacrest's public exposure. But it was not funny and not welcome at the Red Carpet for the Academy Awards in my opinion. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Jessica's dress is too busy in the middle. Glenn's dress is nice but I think she will be a bit warm in it. I can't see their shoes!! Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Jennifer Lopez is absolutely beautiful in this dress. It was all Ryan Seacrest could do to keep from pretend looking down her cleavage. . .LOL [First PIC] George Clooney and date are also stunning. [second pic] Christopher Plummer also looks excellent and he is almost certain to walk home with gold. [Third pic] And Jean DuJardin from The Artist also heats up the Red Carpet [Fourth pic] Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Wow such a beautiful dress but too much cleavage do we have send kids to their bedroom? Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 The Dictator video has been pulled. I didn't get to see it. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Meryl Streep is wearing gold. I'm not sure I'm loving that look [First pic] Penelope Cruz is stunning in a bluish lavender. [second pic] And Natalie Portman is always stunning in red [Third pic] Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 Um, what are thee guys wearing? I couldn't care less about dresses! Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Men's Suits can be boring... Quote
Members MsGuy Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 I love Meryl's shoes! I was wondering when you would get around to the shoes, Hito. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The Best Dressed of the evening once again goes to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. [First two pics] And Gweneth Paltrow was also beautiful. I loved the cape. [Third pic] And Sandra Bullock didn't quite make it in her hanging fabric. [Fourth pic] Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The opening with Billy Crystal going through the movies was once again very well done and it looks like they gave him a bit of a budget this year. He's just a great entertainer. It's interesting that they are doing the technical awards first this year. Hugo has 2 already. And "The Artist" & "The Iron Lady" both have 1 right off the bat. Usually they do Best Supporting Actor first but not this year. ‎"I remember talking about Sean Connery and his performance and his chest hair and just saying, 'Can I please do that?'" -Adam Sandler at The 84th Academy Awards Did anyone else notice the first Ellen DeGeneres commercial for JCPenney? Cute. 4 more to come tonight. I'm glad "A Separation" won Best Foreign Film from Iran. it has the momentum going into the awards tonight. Octavia Spencer deserved to win for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS. She was brilliant in "The HELP". Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 I liked Spencer in that as well. She can use my toilet anytime! Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 I think Jonah Hill is going to win for Moneyball. Plummer has the edge, but I think hill will beat him out. Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 HuffPost has the Dictator spilling ashes prank: Dictator Prank (Actually, Huffpost links to Moviefone for the prank.) Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 Gosh, am I live blogging by myself? EXPAT signed out! I lost on best supporting actor, but best director will easily go to Michel Hazanavicius, "The Artist" even though Martin Scorsese, "Hugo" is favored. Quote
