TotallyOz Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Towelroad and The Huffington Post are reporting that actor Matt Bomer acknowledged his sexual orientation in public for the first Saturday during the Steve Chase Humanitatian Awards in Palm Springs. The White Collar star thanked his partner, publicist Simon Halls, and their three children after receiving the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS. "I'd really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry," Bomer told the crowd. "Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. Guest EXPAT Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Just like Zachary Quinto they decided to do it in a very nonchalant way. I think Matt has talked about it before in a vague sort of way. Quote

Members JKane Posted February 14, 2012 Members Posted February 14, 2012 Yeah, I don't watch the show but often gaze lovingly at the commercials. Always thought (/hoped) "No man that gorgeous is 100% straight!". Quote

Guest EXPAT Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I thought this was common knowledge. It was common knowledge at least in the "coastal" gay communities. But it's always nice when they do come out. Quote

Members JKane Posted May 3, 2012 Members Posted May 3, 2012 I remain conflicted on the idea that celebrities like Bomer or Anderson Cooper must come out, even though it potentially limits them professionally. Many of us here are not out in our professional lives, if for no other reason than we don't believe our sexuality defines us and don't see how it's relevant. Would be nice if it becomes a world where a loving family man doesn't have to hide or be coy no matter his career though! But the politicians actively working against our interests while being closeted gays themselves does piss me off. Quote
