Guest gcursor Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 As some of you may know, I lost my job some months back. I have been researching colleges/fields of study that I want to take with a Federal grant for displaced workers. I can tell you one thing..NO MORE COMPUTERS! I'm possibly thinking about getting into digital journalism. The scary thing will be how old I will be when I graduate from these programs! I also thought of taking a START YOUR OWN PORN SCHOOL degree but surprisingly there is little to no information on this stuff. I feel that I really could have a LOT to offer to this field It's such a shame with some of the talented people on the forum and nobody has tried to open a PORN ACADEMY college! Anyway I am still going through my options and trying to get into the program that I want. I'm trying to dot a few more i's and cross some t's as well. Once I enter the program then I will be sad to say that I might drop off the face of the map for quite some time considering the class load that I'll have to maintain. I'll re-emerge though in a year or two or three depending on what I take. I really would like to try an accelerated bachelor degree program. Yes, I know it's not easy and yes I know that I'm not young anymore BUT if you're going to die then you might as well go out in a brilliant burst of fire. Anyway I just wanted to let you know what would be happening to me coming up. gcursor Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Very ambitious. I wish you good luck in your endeavors. You should check in occasionally just to tell us of the hot college boy encounters you might have. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Gursor wish you the best! I pray that you find something you are passionate about and succeed in it. We will miss you but always think of you. Quote
Guest CharliePS Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 You're never too old to learn something new, but there seems to be a logical contradiction between "digital journalism" and "NO MORE COMPUTERS." However, I wish you all the best in your quest to find a new career. I know from experience that even a stable, successful one can grow stale after a long time, and it's exciting to try something else. Just be careful not to get stuck in one of those govt.-financed "retraining" programs that prepare you for jobs that don't exist. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 31, 2012 Members Posted January 31, 2012 gcursor has such a great sense of humor that he might consider stand-up comedy, at least as a pastime. He has also self-published a book, and is apparently a computer whiz. Lots of skills there should mean a good future. Quote
TotallyOz Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I too wish you well and hope you find what you are looking for. My minister always told me when I was a wee lad, "do what you love and the money will follow." I took his advice to heart and became a pimp. I hope you also follow your desires (though not taken as literally as I did.) Quote
