Heya

I'm staying here when I come over in Dec, in a Excutive Deluxe Room (it wasn't too much more to upgrade to the junior suites, but as it is just me I don't quite see the point of having two bathrooms!)

Anyone had any pleasant or horrible or average experiences there? What's the pool roof like, and are there many guy tourists staying there?

Stayed february there 16t floor in appartment/suite with kitchen-bathroom-living room and sleeping room. I liked it. My thai friend was checked in for free and got also the breakfast. No problem with visitors. The pool was ok but i dont like to much sun. 5 min. walk to BTS. Taxi to action about 40 baht.

I posted this a couple of months ago and put it in comments on Asia Rooms.

"Formerly the Tower Inn. A long time advertiser in the gay freebies and joiner friendly. Reasonably convenient for the gay bars and not too long a walk to skytrain. I tended to take taxis after crossing the busy road. I stayed here about 7 years ago and was not too impressed. I saw that they had spent money on the place and the website reads as if all the rooms have been redecorated - not so! I booked via Asiarooms.com for 1700 baht, prepaid, for an "Executive" double room for 2 persons. I should have read their customer reviews before booking!! The entrance and reception have been revamped. Porters are smiley and attentive. Security and the Taxi desk seem snooty. Reception are charming and efficient. The desk and lounge area are new but already look tired. I chose not to sit on the grubby banquette seating opposite reception as I was wearing white trousers. They take a wipe of your credit card against inhouse charges. The bedroom corridors have windows along one side and so get very hot. My room looked much as the one 7 years ago with a new bedspread and curtains and the same musty smell and tiny dim bathroom with an open grille to the corridor though everything works well and lots of hot water. The bottom of the bathroom door had almost rotted away. The rooms are a spacious 40 sq meters and have a lounge area. Lighting is by two fluorescent panels in the ceiling with blue/white light and two bedside lamps with 25W bulbs. The view is nice, glimpses of the Chao Praya River, but the windows to the balcony are locked. I never seemed to get the aircon adjusted right but at least there was a remote to operate it and an in-room safe. Breakfast is in the Coffee shop on the 2nd floor which is a nice bright cheery modern room. The buffet was pretty good though 'No Bacon' and foul coffee. There seemed to be a lot of Arab families staying with unruly kids. I had a look at their DeLuxe Rooms and they have had a bit of a make-over but not too much and the curtains were very transparent - no good if you like a dark room. The bathrooms were much the same as before. My old room had blackout lining. They have missed a good opportunity to re-design the room layout. When you enter there is the bathroom and then the sitting area and then the beds by the window. The seating area needs to be by the window, There is no WiFi but an Internet Cafe on the 1st floor but 60 baht for 15 minutes. Check-out was smooth though they delay while the mini-bar is checked ( after asking you if you used it!) and I had to ask to see the credit card slip torn in half. If you like an hotel with a pool then this could be the one for you. It has a superb rooftop pool and restaurant. Book an Executive DeLuxe through Asia rooms for best value in my opinion. "

I chose the rooms rate in baht which was 1700 baht. Asia Rooms changed it into US dollars so on my credit card it was charged about 1900 baht - pretty sneaky. I think I saw SPICE magazine had a special on this place at 1000 baht a night. I can't see it in the current issue but e-mail them and they might have some bargains http://www.spicemag.net/
