Members ihpguy Posted January 28, 2012 Members Posted January 28, 2012 Wednesday night, after rush hour at about 8:30PM, the building on 13 de Maio, directly behind the Teatro Municipal collapsed. 20 some stories. It was being rehabbed. This evening on the news, copies of all the necessary permits were shown. There has been mass team coverage on the stations. Lots and lots of interviews. As the building collapsed, it also took out two others as well. 48 hours later, they are still searching the ruins with dogs for survivors and/or bodies. Quite sad. The news has had interviews with family members of some of the hospitalized survivors. There were some frightening filmed images of people fleeing as the dust advanced over them. Memories of 9/11 came over me. Frightening. This evening, eastbound Almirante Barroso and all of 13 de Maio are still closed to traffic. Lots of trucks, cranes, front loaders. And now on top of it all, we have had about 4 hours of non-stop rain that the firefighters have to handle during whatever you might turn the operation. Quote
