Does anyone understand Google's new privacy policy?

Google announced new privacy policies today that will link all of your products across Google whether you want them to be linked or not and apparently users can't opt out unless of course you stop using one of their products.

I'm not sure I get the rules or why they are doing it. I suspect that there will be a lot of complaints about this change. But I'm not sure I fully understand the consequences.

As long as it's innovative enough to bring positive outcome, I am for it. There is nothing to fear since their info is also subjected to those changes and some people will find a way to protect themselves. I don't worry about it at all.

My guess is they are informing people they will be sharing information across their various platforms to create a more consistent user experience. Probably something they have been doing in various forms anyway.

You're absolutely correct about that 4Aces. But instead of informing people about what they are doing - they've been doing it for a long time before this.

You might have a boring porn site which makes you feel as though you're up to speed on many things. But you're not. If you were, your site would already be protected from what it is not, right now.

Just sayin. Continue to steal and copy other people's content.

It becomes a nightmare!

I am not sure but if you're referring to my blog I do not steal any content. All the content I post is authorized by my affiliates. And my little blog pays many of my bills ... so I do not get the connection to the topic. *confused*

That's not true because your so called affiliates have little to nothing to do with what you post there.

LOL. OK

Sir, you have the distinction, unique in the history of MER, of having two separate threads locked on a single day. :o

Authority enough?

"So called affiliates" What the fuck are you talking about? You have no clue who I am working with and to what end we are working together. And as for the income I receive from my blog that is my personal business ... I will never try to prove any of it to the likes of you.

You are a little roach who once in a while makes the Internet useless and your stupidity in business you have little clue makes me wanna vomit on you.

I bought an Android-based phone, linked it to my three Gmail or Google apps email addresses, which linked it to my Google+.

All in all I don't mind. It's very convenient and all works great together.

It did take a little while to get used to every photo I take being uploaded to G+ pictures, but it's actually pretty convenient (and nothing is shared until I share it).

I just wish there was an easy way to have some stuff be more private. I'd like to install Grinder but don't want it out in the open on my phone. Having my naughty email through Hotmail is convenient because that app keeps its stuff separate (and I installed something that requires a password to run the Hotmail app)--would be impossible if I used a google-based email account for that stuff!

JK I believe with Android 4.0 you can hide App Icons as if you would hide a folder on a PC. I forget how to do so but I'm sure a Google search will bring up the steps.

Yes, we wouldn't want to mince words here. But I have to say that I can't disagree.

My phone's not Android 4, but I'm hopeful it'll get the upgrade...

A quick note of interest. If you want to block specific Google ads or have ads more related to your interest watch the short video by Google. https://www.google.com/settings/ads/preferences/

Also if you are a big Google user and want to find out what they have been collecting on you sign in here http://www.google.com/dashboard

^_^

That dashboard was fascinating. They figured out that I had a different sign on name on YouTube and linked them. I am not sure how they did that frankly since I've never told them other than viewing them both in the same browser. I guess that means they are tracking where I sign in on their sites and how. I'm not really thrilled with that. Fortunately I don't really use many Google products. Google + seems to be a mis-fire. I have a blogger site that I also rarely use and YouTube I do use frequently. I'm sure there will be some lawsuits just like Facebook suffered in dealing with privacy etc.
