Guest Oliver Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I invite you to mark your calendars for March 24 and 25, 2012 for the 8th Annual Palm Springs Weekend. There will be a dinner on Saturday the 24th, and a "pool event" at my rented condo in the afternoon of Sunday, the 25th. Probably another dinner after the "pool event". More details will be announced as they become available. In the meantime, I wish everyone an early Happy Valentine's Day! (Which also happens to be International Condom Day!) Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 You are such a nice guy to sponsor this every year. I hope one year to actually make it to one. I've heard many good things about it. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 21, 2012 Members Posted January 21, 2012 What? It is time for another Palm Springs Weekend? Geez, now I really do have to kick the diet up a notch. On the elevator today I kindly allowed an elderly Asian couple to board first. The man was apparently trying to say he liked my shirt. When I took notice, he pointed at my belly, stroking his own as if to indicate pregnant. So I Politely laughed, whereupon he took the liberty of raising two fingers, suggesting I was having twins. So much for Asian reticence! At any rate, all of me is happy to hear that Oliver has the 8th Annual Palm Springs Weekend underway. It must sound especially appealing to those shoveling snow today. Guest Ace Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Looking forward to ANOTHER great weekend!!! Anything I can do to assist? Quote

So much for Asian reticence! I can't imagine u have much of a belly ... but I can relate. When I used to play at the Bike in Los Angeles I would wonder over to the "Asian" games as they are referred to. They are actually in their own area of the casino. Anyway, the Asian women would love to rub mu huge belly at first I had no clue then a friend explained it was for good luck lol. Every once in a while I get lucky and a sexy Asian guy would give my belly a quick rub too .. that made all those female hands worth tolerating Its hard to believe the Palm Springs weekend has entered its 8th year. One of these times I'm actually going to make it Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Lucky some Asians like to exaggerate. I always think of Tom Cruise when I think of you! What? Members Lucky Posted January 23, 2012 Members Posted January 23, 2012 hehe...they are reed thin oldsters who no doubt sit at the buffet and wonder how those Americans can put away so much food. We hear about Asian reticence, Asian manners, Asian respect for elders, but what we have are normal people who observe and judge like everyone else, but don't always express their opinions. In this case they did, even after I showed them a courtesy, but it was good natured and I really took no offense. Now, can we expect hitoallusa at the Palm Springs Weekend? Last year you said you would come but for a trip to Japan... Quote
Members axiom2001 Posted January 23, 2012 Members Posted January 23, 2012 I'd truly wanted to be part of Palm Springs 2012, but because of another major commitment, I will have to think about attending (I hope) in 2013, the 9th PS Weekend. Thanks for the invitation! - - Quote
TotallyOz Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I don't know my schedule yet but I do have some advice for those attending. 1. The Palm Springs Tram is fantastic. I went there with some friend yesterday and it was so much fun. We chose the day as it has snow on the mountain and my friends had been there the week before. They thought it was beautiful and wanted me to see it so we drove from LA to PS for the day. I am so happy we did. We had a fabulous time. There was snow at the top and we had so much fun walking around the trails in the snow. It was a busy holiday weekend so the place was packed and we had to wait over 1.5 hours to get the tram. But, we relaxed and waited. The Tram cost 28 and you get a great view of the entire area from the top. The ride up is fun as well. They have a few places to eat up there but if you want the better restaurant, be sure to plan in advance as they close in early afternoon and reopen again for dinner. 2. Sherman's Deli in Palm Springs is fabulous. I had the Chicken Salad and it tasted great. I also had the potato latkas and they were yummy. The place is great and the deserts are DIVINE! The more I visit Palm Springs the more I love it. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I won't be attending so you guys have fun. Lucky sorry for a late response~~ Quote
Members Lucky Posted February 19, 2012 Members Posted February 19, 2012 "I won't be attending, so you guys have fun?" Hmmm, how could it possible be fun without you there? Well, we will try our best. Oz, glad to hear that you like Palm Springs more the more that you visit. I have been up the tram and did think it is an interesting experience. A friend had a summer pass and went frequently, but avoided the weekend crowds. You can do that when you live here! Quote
Guest tomcal Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I went last year for the Sunday pool party at Oliver's. Not only is he a GREAT HOST!, but he is a really nice guy!! I won't be going this year, but I know that those that go will have a great time! Quote
