Where Is Everyone?

Presently I am at home as it is just past 0700. Perhaps some of the others are busy avoiding the grinch that stole Christmas, something I will be out and about doing in a very little while. ^_^

Best regards,

You ask an important question, BiBottomBoy. Posting definitely seems down. I re-posted the August Challenge to remind folk that we could not take things for granted. If we want a viable and interesting forum, then we have to make it so.

That post died a very sudden death.

We have 100's of lurkers, as evidenced by the occasional record number of posters online at once. But they are not really posters, they are parasites. They come here to read the reviews and forum posts that the rest of us have contributed, take whatever enjoyment they can from them, and move on, not contributing a shred of info themselves. I am tired of entertaining these drolls. If they want this website to be there for their enjoyment, then it's high time they got off their asses and started posting.

I am tired of looking at the list of top posters and seeing the same names all of the time. Yesterday I was in the lead for a while with only 5 posts. That's just pathetic.

I recognize that for many of us, life intervenes. Other obligations arise. But, if you are dedicated to keeping this site viable, then you have to have a plan, a plan to actually make time to post each day.

IN 2009, a contest was held to reward a prolific poster. He took his prize of $1500 and then relatively disappeared. Okay, yes, he followed the rules. But many of us looked up to him as an example. If a prize winner cannot stick with the site, what hope is there for the rest of us?

My New Year's resolution will be to reduce my facetime at Male Escort Review. Perhaps if others could not count on production from some of us regulars, they might take it up themselves- not that I have high hopes.

We have tried the carrot for some time, gently prodding folks to get involved. Well, it's time for more than that. If you want the site, then do your goddamn part.

It has been busy for me... I will post more soon.. Aren't you coming home for Christmas?

I didn't mean right now. I just meant in general there have not been many comments this week.

Yes, I knew what you meant but I think my answer implied folks are extra busy this time of year.

Rhetorical question: Do potential posters feel welcome when they are criticized for not posting?

More of a ridiculous question, RA1. If they didn't feel welcome to post before, why would stating the facts make them feel any differently? The point is that if they want to continue coming here and finding something interesting to read, the free ride is over, at least as far as I am concerned.

One can tell that I am just tired of it. Some of these lurkers- you know who you are-post at Daddy's, but cannot figure out how to post here. Right, Sam?

How do you like your new clothes? You are in a "mood" aren't you?

Guys, don't get mad at Lucky.. I think he is just extremely frustrated because he has given so much of his time to try to make this forum a success and to get more people to post, but yet it just doesnt happen. I believe that we all post because we like to think we have something important to say and likewise, we enjoy reading what others say about something we brought up. I too get frustrated when topics die a quick death with no responses and/or few views..After awhile, it gets to the point of "why bother" or "why waste my time"?

Over at Daddy's, it seems that more people view, and more people post. Are they "better" than us??? Of course not.. Is it because people like the flareups and confrontations more than the quiet civility here? Who knows...

Sometimes someone needs to "stir the shit" a little bit to get things moving along.. I say "stir away" Lucky..

then come up with something.. Lucky has tried asking nicely, he has tried a public challenge, he has begged... I think he has run out of ideas...

I hope I speak for the entire community here, but the last thing we want is for Lucky to throw his hands up in the air and shout "FUCK IT ALL, I AM OUTTA HERE"

Well this is an international site and some people can't participate because they can't write well in English, although I don't write well but I still post. So don't be discouraged.

Well but France is a nice place to spend Christmas. I hope you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

No way. Flights cost three times as much this time of year.

for better or worse:

1) It's the holiday season ---> dinner or parties every single night

2) Long hours at the office closing out year end responsibilities

3) Out of town guests began arriving about a week ago

Bottom line, my computer time is down to about 20% of usual during this time of year... time to read but little time to post.

I don't think that being shitty to people will generate more comments.

This from the guy who tries to get catfights going? You will soon have top billing for most posts of the day, I hope you make good use of it.

My comments are not directed at regular posters here, folks like you who have been with the site since the beginning and have made real contributions.

Right now there are 115 "guests" online. I am speaking to them.

People come here to look but don't post for a variety of reasons:

1) they aren't interested in the topics that have been started

2) they don't feel that they have anything worth adding to the threads

3) they don't want to start threads

4) they just want to look at photos

5) they want to be entertained, not to entertain

6) they just don't like to write (believe me, this explains a lot of non-participation)

7) they are intimidated by the personalities of those who do post constantly (yes, Lucky, that includes you)

8) they don't want to feel obligated to stay involved once they have posted something

I often come to the site, read through the topics quickly, and leave without participating. There are two things that MIGHT make me write more:

1) if I didn't have to log-in every time I want to say something, because the "remember me" feature doesn't work for me (and others, who have made the same complaint)

2) if one could see something more than just the title of a thread before one opens it, as one can on Daddy's site when one places the cursor on the title

Hectoring listeners to make them feel guilty has never worked with me during NPR fund drives, and I don't think it's likely to work here.
