500-plus victims of card-swipe scam at Lucky

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

"The number of Lucky supermarket customers whose bank or credit-card accounts were breached by thieves using data-skimming devices inserted into card-swipe machines has grown to more than 500, the grocery store chain said Thursday.

Officials at Save Mart Supermarkets, which owns Lucky, have also discovered another store where the card readers were tampered with, this one in San Leandro. That brings to 24 the number of Lucky stores in the Bay Area where thieves were able to steal customers' debit-card or credit-card information.

Technicians performing scheduled maintenance on credit- and debit-card readers in self-checkout lines in early November found that the devices had been tinkered with..."

IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE- Please note: I sold the Lucky stores years ago, including the name. So I am in no way responsible for this scam where people swipe. And I am not owned by Save Mart- they are the folks I sold the chain to. Either that, or I am totally deluded by this Lucky moniker... :rolleyes:
