BiBottomBoy Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Yesterday they announced who is getting into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012 and the results are pissing me the fuck off. The winners were Guns N’ Roses, the Beastie Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Laura Nyro, Donovan, and The Small Faces/The Faces. For those of you who are keeping score the nominees were: . Beastie Boys · The Cure · Donovan · Eric B. & Rakim · Guns 'N Roses · Heart · Joan Jett and The Blackhearts · Freddie King · Laura Nyro · Red Hot Chili Peppers · Rufus with Chaka Khan · The Small Faces/The Faces · The Spinners · Donna Summer · War Fuck me, The Red Hot Chile Peppers get in but not Joan Jett, Heart Freddie King or The Cure? WTF? Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Well maybe they get in next year? Keep your fingers crossed. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 There is nothing more emotional than people's opinion about music. Every single person has their view on who belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. For example the Hall of Fame will not be remotely credible until Cher (or Sonny & Cher) have been admitted. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Can we all agree that Joan Jett should have gotten in before the Red Hot Chili Peppers? Quote
Members BigK Posted December 9, 2011 Members Posted December 9, 2011 Can we all agree that Joan Jett should have gotten in before the Red Hot Chili Peppers? I agree. It should have been a no-brainer. Quote
TotallyOz Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Can we all agree that Joan Jett should have gotten in before the Red Hot Chili Peppers? I agree as well. Fucking dumb move IMHO. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Joan has always said that she's had to fight the anti-gay bias is the rock and roll industry. I wonder if this is another example of that? Quote
Guest FourAces Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I completely disagree with anybody who does not believe the RHCP should be in the Rock Hall Of Fame. I cannot understand what Guns 's Roses are doing there? They had two hit albums then imploded. They offered nothing new to music ... I think some of their songs were ok but thats it. I agree Joan should be in as well as Heart. Both had an impact on music as did the RHCP. Besides who doesn't love those socks on their cocks Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 The Red Hot Chili Peppers always seemed like frat boy music to me. I suspect that Guns N Roses got in because they want Slash in (and he deserves to be in) and Guns N Roses has more name recognition than The Snakepit or Velvet Revolver. Quote
Guest rohale Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 In addition to Joan Jett and Cher who should have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame quite some time ago, I think of Peter, Paul & Mary, Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughan who should have been inducted two decades ago, if not earlier and deservedly so. In more recent years I'm suprised that artists like Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Cocker, Joan Baez, Chicago, Warren Zevon, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Kiss, The Carrs, Cheap Trick, Dire Straits, Stevie Nicks, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, T.Rexx, Grand Funk Railroad, Public Enemy, Prince, Sting, Steve Winwood, Don Henley, Sade, Salt N Pepa, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston and perhaps Phil Collins have been overlooked. A sort of broad array of artists who have been inflential in music and should be inducted sooner rather than later, offcourse some more of a priority than others. Quote
Members Lucky Posted December 12, 2011 Members Posted December 12, 2011 Is Tiny Tim in? My favorite would be Leif Garrett though...in his adult era. Quote
Guest rohale Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Unfortunately Tiny Tim is not in. If someone could petition for a Ukulele Hall Of Fame, he'll be a synch as it's a practical no brainer. Quote

BiBottomBoy Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Chicago has been told that they will not get in ever, because while the voting system is mostly secret there are apparently some "super voters" who have veto power. The only two bands that are known to have been permanently vetoed are Chicago and KISS. And I agree, Cheap Trick should be in there. Quote
