Bangkok Hotels Slashing Prices

If an email I received today is any indication, recent flooding in Bangkok has caused hotel occupancy rates to plummet. The Sofitel Silom is now available for $84 a night. Last year I paid $125 a night without breakfast.

The Ibis Riverside Bangkok starts at $22 a night.

The Grand Mercure Park Avenue starts at $34.

The Novotel on Siam Square at $57.

The brand new Novotel Platinum, opening this month, starts at $54.

It goes on and on, so pack your bags!

The sale email I received is from Accor Hotels, and is available worldwide.

The Thai economy must be hurting, as the floods have caused many businesses to close, thus reducing exports and imports. Tourists are avoiding the place because they think it is all underwater.

The flood waters have not ravaged Bangkok, yet some outlying areas have been affected, and there are garbage issues mounting.

But January is the best time to visit Thailand as the weather is at its best. So buy now, before other tourists figure it out and prices rise.

Let me know when the airlines halve their fares to BKK. I'll be all aboard. :pirate:

They may lower them, but only from Tokyo, Taipei, or Hong Kong. You've got to get to Asia on your own.

Yes, December/January/February are great months weatherwise in Thailand. I was in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chaing Mai, and Phuket in 2007 during these months, and the weather was indeed superb! It's the time to go. ...was also there during the summer (our summer) and I burned!

I think there is a TV ad that makes the same comment. I feel hot. I think it is the temperature.

Best regards,

Axiom, are you saying that the summer is a really hot time?

Apparently, June, July, and August are hot months in Thailand. I know the July that I went on my second visit to this country was quite hot! 1.5.12

Bangkok seems to have lost no tourists because of the recent floods. It is crowded everywhere you go. I am switching hotels this weekend just to get away from the crowds in the Patpong area. It's like Times Square without the sidewalks. (They have them,it's just that every available inch is used for commerce.) My new hotel is 5 stars, and runs $83 a night including breakfast.I like that part of traveling to Thailand. Nowhere else could you get this quality of hotel for such a low rate.

There is also a thread on a Bangkok hotel deal in the Lounge. i pointed out there that the Millenium Grand Sukhumvit has a real deal out there now.
