Members Lucky Posted November 10, 2011 Members Posted November 10, 2011 What in the world is this country coming to? Dumping the body parts of deceased soldiers in the dump? No respect at all? All of this ceremony with the flags and the salutes is all a charade? They really just want to dump the bodies in the trash? I am aghast. Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 10, 2011 Author Members Posted November 10, 2011 A blurb in the Washington Post, supposedly saying how many people recommended the article, came out like this: Remains of war dead dumped in landfill 4,556 people recommend this Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 13, 2011 Author Members Posted November 13, 2011 Ah, sigh. The Politics forum is dead ground. Hardly any interest in my tuna story, and only TY joins me in disgust at this landfill issue. I'm still Quote
Members RA1 Posted November 13, 2011 Members Posted November 13, 2011 This seems to be a deeply personal issue or one of little consequence to others. I don't think they dumped body parts but cremains. Therefore I think the disrespect is to the family members, not necessarily to the dead. Regardless, a procedural change is in order and no doubt already accomplished. What do you think hospitals do with limbs removed during surgery? Many cremate them and then discard them as medical waste. Our deceased KIA's deserve to be treated respectfully and their families comforted as much as possible. Likely this is the current situation. Too bad humans fail but they do. Best regards, RA Quote
Members Lucky Posted December 8, 2011 Author Members Posted December 8, 2011 The scandal worsens today as hundreds more troops were revealed to have been dumped in landfills. Landfill is, of course, a nice name for dump. The remains, or partial remains, of over 2700 soldiers ended up in landfills. Washington Post story Quote
