Members Lucky Posted October 21, 2011 Members Posted October 21, 2011 My visit this week to the doctor revealed that, in the last 3 months, I have lost 11 pounds. The problem is that when I gave up serious weightlifting, I gained 25 pounds. So there are 14 more to lose just to get back to basics. Can I do it in the next months what with trips to New York, and Rio coming up, not to mention Christmas and Valentines? Quote
Guest Oliver Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 ...in the last 3 months, I have lost 11 pounds ... there are 14 more to lose ... Can I do it in the next months ... YES, you can!!! I expect them to be gone by February 1! Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Not that I would recommend it, but I've lost 30 pounds since my June skull fracture. Not a method I would try at home though. I drastically changed my eating habits since then which seems to be working. I like using the "Lose It" app on my iphone which keeps track of everything I eat and all my exercise. I'm trying to stay under 1400 calories a day net. That seems to be doing the trick. Quote

Sounds like you're doing things right. I've found the best way to drop the pounds was to change the eating habits - especially elimination of highly processed foods. I also track my in-take and I think that helps keep me focused. I also kept a weight journal where I could track my progress. Lucky, I full believe you can drop the pounds. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Lucky you used to weight lift? That's hot! I think you can do it! Quote

Hope it is all behind you now. Quote
Members Lucky Posted October 23, 2011 Author Members Posted October 23, 2011 I didn't know of EXPAT's accident either. My sympathies to him and to lurkerspeaks, who was also in an accident earlier this summer. I wonder how much weight he has lost? (You needn't say, lurker!) So I have 14 weeks to lose 14 pounds? I wonder if Oliver will be treating me to an escort of my choice should I meet his challenge... Quote
Guest Oliver Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 ... I wonder if Oliver will be treating me to an escort of my choice should I meet his challenge... So now you want a reward for your efforts! Your well-being and fitness should be it's own reward. Quote

Members Lucky Posted November 17, 2011 Author Members Posted November 17, 2011 Could someone please start another thread and get this title off of the menu? Please! I am now down 15 pounds, with 10 to go before Oliver arrives. Quote

The biggest thing to help though is not keeping ice cream in the house! I know what you mean. Before my returns to the States, I always remember to notify the local Publix in advance to top up their Haagen-Dazs inventory. Quote

Hope the holidays didn't derail your progress. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 1, 2012 Author Members Posted January 1, 2012 Hmmm...the menu heading reads Lucky Loses One Finger. No, I still have eleven! But to answer your question, why yes, the holidays did ruin my weight losing efforts. Finally I had reached the 20 pound weight loss mark. But now, I am back to losing only 15 pounds. And Oliver arrives a month from today! Can I lose ten pounds by then? If your answer is yes, then you haven't seen the Christmas candy still lying around my house! Thankfully the bf helped out by single-handedly eating almost a whole box of See's candy. Quote
Members OneFinger Posted January 2, 2012 Members Posted January 2, 2012 Sorry that the holidays are taking their toll. But, it's not uncommon for my weight to fluctuate 3-4 lbs every week. Sometimes I'll add a couple of pounds and the next week I'll lose 3-4 lbs. So, it's not uncommon to see those ups and downs. For quick weight loss, I'd recommend cutting out the carbs such as potatoes, rice, breads, etc. And increase your protein in-take. I'd recommend 80 g of protein per day. Give Oliver a hug for me when he arrives. He's a great guy and it's been such a pleasure to meet him in SLC. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 25, 2012 Author Members Posted January 25, 2012 Oliver arrives next week! My scale says I am down 23 pounds, but that's the new scale, which may be giving me a 4 pound grace. So, it's either 19 or 23, but not 25. If 23, I can drop 2 by February 1st. Quote
