Guest lurkerspeaks Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I know many people will disagree with this, but many years ago, when I was trying to lose weight, I figured that I was taking in close to 2000 calories a day just from drinking soda. I made the switch to diet soda. Yes, it took some time to adjust to the flavor, but now I don't like regular soda.. And yes, there are other non-healthy aspects to diet soda.. but at least I am not taking in empty calories.. I also drink some of the "crystal light" type sugar free drink mixes.. great flavors and zero calories.. Quote
Members lookin Posted October 19, 2011 Members Posted October 19, 2011 Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of guilt, especially for something as trivial as drinking a little soda. Not only did you drink the soda, but you don't even have the enjoyment of doing it. Sounds like the worst of both worlds. Why not say, "Well, I enjoyed my soda for this week and maybe next Wednesday I'll have a little more!" Quote
TotallyOz Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 As many of you know, I have BIG issues with my weight. It is a daily struggle for me. I learned a long time ago to never feel guilty for enjoying life. If you have a soda or several glasses of booze, count up the calories and go to the gym the next day. When you tell yourself you can never have something, you are making a mistake. You will always want it. I know. I told myself years ago I could never have Mike Stefano as he was the BF of someone I knew, I regretted it ever since. I wish I had just taken a taste of him and went to the gym or church the next day to burn off my calories. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I think it is important to find immediate substitutes for things you like. For example I discovered this fantastic cucumber salad recipe at my favorite sushi place. I can make it myself. So when I'm craving something salty, I make this and use pepper instead of salt and it works and it only has 50 calories. This approach really works for me and it might for you too. Quote
