Guest lurkerspeaks
I know many people will disagree with this, but many years ago, when I was trying to lose weight, I figured that I was taking in close to 2000 calories a day just from drinking soda. I made the switch to diet soda. Yes, it took some time to adjust to the flavor, but now I don't like regular soda.. And yes, there are other non-healthy aspects to diet soda.. but at least I am not taking in empty calories.. I also drink some of the "crystal light" type sugar free drink mixes.. great flavors and zero calories..
Members lookin
Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of guilt, especially for something as trivial as drinking a little soda. Not only did you drink the soda, but you don't even have the enjoyment of doing it. Sounds like the worst of both worlds. Why not say, "Well, I enjoyed my soda for this week and maybe next Wednesday I'll have a little more!"
TotallyOz
As many of you know, I have BIG issues with my weight. It is a daily struggle for me. I learned a long time ago to never feel guilty for enjoying life. If you have a soda or several glasses of booze, count up the calories and go to the gym the next day. When you tell yourself you can never have something, you are making a mistake. You will always want it. I know. I told myself years ago I could never have Mike Stefano as he was the BF of someone I knew, I regretted it ever since. I wish I had just taken a taste of him and went to the gym or church the next day to burn off my calories.
Guest EXPAT
I think it is important to find immediate substitutes for things you like. For example I discovered this fantastic cucumber salad recipe at my favorite sushi place. I can make it myself. So when I'm craving something salty, I make this and use pepper instead of salt and it works and it only has 50 calories. This approach really works for me and it might for you too.
