Guest wowpow Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Karaoke Wars in Soi Beokeow leaves one bar destroyed by fire. Police Colonel Sutin, the Chief of Pattaya Police was one of many officers to respond to a serious fire which had taken hold of a Karaoke Bar located in Soi Beokeow just after daybreak on Thursday. Police and Fire Rescue Workers arrived at the scene and attended to a serious fire which had engulfed the Dai-eji Karaoke Bar. There were some tense moments as people living above the bar attempted to escape through windows and climbed along the roof to the adjoining building. We can confirm that no one was hurt in the blaze which was apparently caused by a dispute between two groups of Staff from the Dai-Eji Karaoke Bar and the New Boys Karaoke Bar located nearby. The dispute, over a customer, began just after 5am and began with an attack on the New Boys Karaoke Bar by staff from the Dai-Eji Karaoke Bar who smashed the front door of the bar and caused damage inside. After some time, a group of staff members from the New Boys Bar retaliated and, armed with weapons including guns and petrol bombs, attacked the Dai-Eji Bar causing the fire. The cost of the damage is estimated at 300,000 Baht and although no arrests have been made, Police are now searching for the two groups involved in the incident. http://www.pattayacitynews.net/news_30_08_50_3.htm Brits flee battle of the gays September 01, 2007 Two men arrested after Karaoke Bar Fire in Soi Beokeow. Police arrested two young men after one bar was set ablaze and another was completely ransacked in the Thailand resort of Pattaya. Foreigners including British tourists fled the area, 100 miles east of Bangkok. The area is famed for gay sex tourism but the trade is in recession. It is thought the feud erupted when two male hookers, known as “ladyboys” argued over a foreign client. During street fighting a gun was fired into one gay bar. Pattaya is popular with British sex tourists. Teenage boys are available there for as little as £12. Prostitution is illegal but cops are paid to turn a blind eye. The majority of the resort’s foreign gay bars are thought to be owned by Britons. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007400839,00.html Quote
