Guest Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I remember my first trip to Thailand and my first experience in Sunee Plaza. I went to the old K-boys and I had a friend from the USA with me. He was an escort in NYC. We walked in and were totally shocked by what we saw. We left in almost no time and went back over to Boyztown. I did not have a good opinion of Sunee on my first trip. When I returned, I had met a doorman from Kaos that a friend had in Bangkok for part of my trip. I met him on the streets and asked him to be my guide for a week. He agreed. We spent most of the time in Boyztown but his friends were all in Sunee and that is where we would end out night and take his friends off from work and out to Karoke or the movie or bowling. The more I was there; the more I did feel the community atmosphere of the area. First impressions are hard to change but with time and many lessons learned, things do change. I went into Thailand with my eyes wide open but I had blinders on in many ways. I did not know much about the land or the customs there and the kind of Farang that lived there. It was easier for me to get to know the boys and the scene in Thailand but I still do not understand the majority of Farang. Few in Pattaya are what they seem to be. Gaybutton and EarWig are the exceptions. What you see is what you get. That is not often the case but with those 2, you know what your expectations are and where you stand. I met some real nuts in Pattaya and I thought at one time I was a good judge of character but it turned out I really sucked. Once again, first impressions let me astray. Thailand is a very unique place and Pattaya in particular is fantastic in a surreal sort of way. I do understand your impression and I understand your reaction. I wish you would walk the streets of Pattaya one night and see the number of younger boys that have no home and no place to sleep and can only wander in the streets. I am always happy when a boy gets a job in the bar because at least then, he has someone that will look after him. I have mixed reactions to many things in the Land of Smiles. I suspect most do. Don’t let your first impression be your last. You may be surprised at how different things look after time passes. Quote
dapitt Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Good. You could have phrased your original post better, but I'll take your word for it. His original post was pretty clear to me. Good job Ttiger! I'd say you see things rather clearly. Thanks for your very good and informative post! Quote
Gaybutton Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 His original post was pretty clear to me. Good job Ttiger! I'd say you see things rather clearly. Thanks for your very good and informative post! It was clear to me too. My dispute was with atri1666, not Ttiger. That's the post to which I was referring. He now says he didn't mean an implication that Ttiger is a pedophile and I have no reason to doubt his word for that. Quote
