TotallyOz Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I went there this week and they are really very nice. The rates on the website are very reasonable. The breakfast is good and the apartments themselves are well done and clean and modern. The gym is decent and has all equipment needed. It is a short 8 minute walk to Emporium Shopping and they have a Tuk Tuk to take you at your convenience until 10PM each night. I stayed at the Marriott apartments on Sathorn for a year and loved it. This is the same quality but a bit newer. Lots of restaurants and eateries in the area. You will get a very reasonable long stay rate at this hotel. Quote

TotallyOz Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Well, um, okay. So why aren't you staying there? How does it compare to the one on Sathorn? It is the same interior except the rooms I think are a bit larger, the prices a bit cheaper and it is walking distance to a major mall. I didn't stay there this trip as I wanted a different location but I'll be there the next trip. I really like the place and I really liked the Marriott on Sathorn as well. They are very well run properties. But, in Bangkok it is easy to find good long stay apartments. Quote

Members axiom2001 Posted August 21, 2011 Members Posted August 21, 2011 Here is a cool studio room. http://www.bluepano.com/mea_sukhumvit_24/ This would suit me fine. I like. I like. What's its proximity to the area with the boys bars and clubs, the club with the muscle guys, (sp), etc.? Also, what is the visitors' policy at any of the Marriott properties in Bangkok? Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 I have stayed at just about every Marriott hotel in Bangkok. I have never had a problem bringing guests of the hotel. I had a room at the Marriott executive Apartments on Sathorn and never had any problems. The hotel in question in this thread is a fairly new hotel. I believe it is only 1 1/2 years old. Again, I do not think you have a problem bringing guests into the hotel. That being said, the hotel is out-of-the-way for the gay bar area. It is a long distance up the sky train from where the gay scene takes place. It is in an area with very nice hotels, apartments, and shopping centers. However, it is easy to get anywhere in Bangkok if you are willing to take the sky train. If you must take a taxi, and you're going to be out in the daytime, this hotel is not for you. The hotel is gorgeous. The lobby looks fantastic. The fitness facilities our very nice. They have a shuttle that goes to the Metro station. All in all, I think it is a great place to stay if you want to be out of the gay area of Bangkok. Quote

TotallyOz Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 Then why go at all? In an amazing place like Thailand, there are more things to see than the gay bars. If that is the only reason one comes to Thailand, I feel sorry for them. Quote
