SO I have a question. I pulled the trigger and just ordered a new iPad today (nope..never had one before). The only thing I have from Apple is my video iPod which I use constantly.

So my new iPad is supposed to be here relatively quick which leads me to this question, setting aside ANGRY BIRDS and GRINDR (both of which I plan to get immediately), what other apps would you suggest I check out for the iPad?

Congratulations. There are many free application you can download and also there are ratings and reviews for them. There is an application you can share a folder with other people. My friend home school their kids so it is very easy for him to check their assignments and proof read their work remotely. Other than there many junk applications too. Make sure to reviews whether it is right for you. I don't use GRINDR and never have.

I use Omni Focus as it is amazing! You need to buy both the IPad version and one for your desktop but both are worth the cost. IMHO

I love playing Angry Birds and Crossword Puzzle the most. I also have several other games the boys love to play when they get the device.

They have a cool chess game.

I use Kindle all the time. It is free.

Fandango is great if you are into movies.

Evernote if you have an account with them (one of the best products on the net IMHO).

Google Voice is great! Sign up and download.

Shazam is a app that you let it listen to some music and it will search the database and tell you what song it is and how to buy it and who sung it.

Speedtest.net is great for hotels as I always use it before I check into a hotel to see if their wifi is really high speed.

Flight Control HD is one of my fav games. It is so much fun and addicting.

Clock Pro HD is also a great clock program with alarms and many different kinds of clocks.

Penultimate if you like to write and not type. It is great to use from time to time when I am taking notes.

Veggie Samurai is a fun game that everyone loves.

Skype is good if you have an account as I use this on my IPad often.

There are just a few of my favorite things. ^_^

Gcursor has gotten his new iPad (yesterday) and I spent the better part of yesterday and today getting it set up. I actually ran out of space (on a 64 gb drive) Okay..I went a LITTLE nuts! Anyway I'll probably be away for a few days because you know that to ME, THIS is better than sex by far! So far, I've been playing the Hell out of the SKEE-BALL game application! For those of you who don't understand, let me put it this way...I'm playing a game on the iPad 2 that is the same as when a child on Christmas day plays with the BOX of a very expensive toy! I'm currently playing with SKEE-BALL which was the first one I started and then I got hooked somehow. So I'll return to Earth in a few days but I might not be saying much until I get over the euphoric high that I'm going through now.

I have been looking at tablets-and I have also been looking at MBA's and other netbooks.

So far none of them have hit all the checkboxes I require them to hit before I make an investment. The Ipad has two main drawbacks IMO-the first of which is having to deal with the Cult of Jobs :pirate: and the second of which is having to pay for and use an adapter for HDMI out-this is a major point for me and I find it outrageous that it is not included in the current products.

AirPlay on the iPad or iPhone allows you to play music or video without any connection at all.

that's true. you need either an AppleTV or an internet based TV.

Hey there first post been reading the forum for a while now.

Anyway I too am thinking of purchasing a iPad 2. I had a iPhone 3GS for one month a few years ago (it was borrowed). I did enjoy using it. But my own cell phone is Android.

A little about my anticipated usage, email, twitter, facebook, watching movies (either Netflix or Hulu), videos, porn (Flirt4Free or Corbin Fisher), using it when I travel instead of a laptop.

My main question, has the lack of Flash interfered with your use of the sites you visit?

Any additional tips or suggestions are most welcomed.

IMO, Flash is on its way out. It should not be a main factor in buying an IPAD. IPAD is good for any of functions you have suggested. You can also buy a wireless keyboard if you don't like typing on the screen. I gave IPads as presents to many people and they all love it.

HTML5 is coming and is far more efficient than Flash. I have had an iPhone for nearly 5 years (since the first day of launch) and i haven't missed flash at all. I've also used an iPad and that are so many other options to Flash that I haven't missed it. And most sites are making iPad and iPhone friendly versions anyway which will use HTML5.
