Think about that- the divided US Senate managed 80 votes for a gay man: The U.S. Senate on Monday confirmed a New York City lawyer to become the first openly gay man on the federal bench. James Paul Oetken - a Greenwich Village resident and adjunct law professor at Fordham University - was approved for the prestigious post by an 80-to-13 margin. Not so much that a gay judge was confirmed but that ANY judge was confirmed by the Senate. It's great that is the first openly gay judge. But the GOP has had a strangle hold on judicial appointments by this administration even though Obama has nominated many moderates. Quote
