How about some sort of summer contest, like each day, posters can cast one vote for their favorite post of the day. It would be limited to posts created within the last 24 hour period. Votes would be tallied for the contest timeframe, and the creator of the most popular post would win a prize of some sort..

This MIGHT get more people to start posts, and even more to get into the replying mood as well...
