TotallyOz Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Kathryn Tucker Windham was one of my favorite authors when I was a child. She wrote a great book 13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey that dealt with the ghost that lived in her house with her. It was my first book that I remember that I read over and over and over again. She was a journalist and reporter. She lived to be 93. Farewell Ms Windham. May you rest in peace! http://www.npr.org/2011/06/13/137155004/alabama-storyteller-kathryn-tucker-windham-dies Quote

Members RA1 Posted June 14, 2011 Members Posted June 14, 2011 Although I am not quite that old, I found a treasure trove of Tom Swift books in the attic of one of my realitives, probably my great uncles or grandparents, and was fascinated reading them. I must have been 10-12 years old and the thought of an electric rifle and all those other "inventions" really appealed to me. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Guest CharliePS Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 My favorites were the Dr. Doolittle books. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted June 14, 2011 Members Posted June 14, 2011 The Hardy Boys were OK, but it was the Tom Corbett, Space Cadet, books that tripped my trigger. All American Tom, snarky Roger Manning and the hunky man's man Astro. I did all sorts of odd jobs to scrape up the cash to buy the series (8 books, if I remember right). Quote
