Members Lucky Posted June 6, 2011 Members Posted June 6, 2011 About a year ago, the omipotent Daddy of Daddy's reviews suspended me from his site for one year. He did me a big favor in doing so. I am here to tell you that I have every intention of remaining a poster at MER. You guys took me in when I needed a place to stay, and I appreciate it. I think I was truly hooked on posting there, and often got involved in a fight or two. At MER, I enjoy the smaller group, and the friendlier atmosphere/ I like many of the posters there, and, if you truly want to be read, that is the place to go. There are so may new names that I cannot begin to guess who they are. M<any of the guys to whom I felt an affection also post there no more. So, I think I will stay here and fight the little battles that we do. Sure, I would like a larger readership, but MER is close and we can argue till lights out and still remain friends. Getting to know the posters here has been a treat. So, give yourselves a pat on the back. The administrators of the sites also have quite different personalities. Oz is very laid back, and easy to get along with. Daddy is too, but he does, as I , have a shorter fuse. MER does yet match the quality and quantity of Daddy's. I m doing what I can to make it an interesting place as are many others. I pretty much like everyone here, so why go backwards? Quote
Members MsGuy Posted June 6, 2011 Members Posted June 6, 2011 Has it been a whole year now? Time passes so fast. Every once in a while at Daddy's I find myself thinking "That boy doesn't know how lucky he is that Lucky isn't around to reply to that post!" Quote
Members TownsendPLocke Posted June 6, 2011 Members Posted June 6, 2011 It has been over three years now since I stopped posting over at the other site(which I left under my own steam BTW) and i do not regret it one bit. I do peek over there (very)occasionally-and I am very comfortable with my decision Quote
Guest jimboivyo Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I was given a forced holiday too from daddys. Without a warning, which is directly against their own terms of service, for about 3-4 months. Typical and it didn't phase me, but it did prove that hypocrites are running the show. youre making the right decision to stay here lucky. why be involved with a website that plays favorites, protects awful people and milks their members for money that never seems to be accounted for? Quote
Guest zipperzone Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Lucky: I would think less of you if you reapplied for membership - having done your year in purgatory - and in effect, asking that sanctimonious old curmudgeon to please sir, let me post again. People make decisions- as "Daddy" did and they should be made to live with them. His board is poorer for not having your posts, and he deserves that. He is a hysterical old fop, probably down on his luck, a condition largely of his own making. He freely admits he does not care about the forums as they bring him no revenue, but that doesn't stop him for begging for a handout citing excuses whose legitimacy are in question. He is short tempered, autocratical and rude - may he reap what he sows. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted June 7, 2011 Members Posted June 7, 2011 It's been a pleasure to have you particpate. The site would not be the same without you. I know I speak for Oz when I say we look forward to your continued presence and particpation. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Lucky, please don't go away. Your posts are often the most interesting reads of my day. Quote
Guest CharliePS Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I have been a poster at the other site almost from its inception in 1999. When MER was started, TY asked me to join, but I declined because I didn't want to spend the time on two escort sites, and I was afraid of getting caught up in battles between them. The only sites I had ever logged onto daily were my email, bank accounts, and Hooboy. When Lucky moved over here, at his urging I joined and began to read this MB regularly, and I discovered that I enjoyed participating; the tone and some of the topics are certainly more appealing. It was nice to be reminded of the pleasure I used to take in TY's comments, and to reconnect with Oz, whom I had met only briefly in the old Hooboy days. But I also still enjoy participating at the other site, because there are still threads there that catch my fancy. Since I am no longer really interested in escorts per se, I solve the time problem by ignoring many threads on both sites that I used to dutifully read. When I retired from the institution at which I had worked almost from its founding, I had difficulty believing that it could get along without my input; it did just fine--it was just a somewhat different kind of place. Daddysreviews gets along fine without Lucky, just as it would get along fine without me, but it is a different place now from the old days, just as it was somewhat different after management passed from Hooboy to Daddy. This site changed when Lucky came on board, and it will change again over time. So it goes. Meanwhile, I'm happy to be here. Quote

When I read omnipotent Daddy my thoughts, along with a chuckle, immediately went to the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz. But I think in this case, more likely impotent. Quote
Members Lucky Posted June 8, 2011 Author Members Posted June 8, 2011 Perhaps I did not state clearly enough- I don't plan to stop posting here, but nor will I rejoin Daddy's site. As CharliePS points out, the site is doing fine without me. And, as I pointed out, there are so many new member names there that I would hardly feel it is the same site I left. Very few of our friends are indispensable to our lives, all the more reason to value those who make your life better. MER is now my online playground. There is no reason to make a move. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I just don't understand why Daddy seems almost determined to push people away from his site. If forums bother him and don't make him any money then he should just get rid of the forums. If the forums do work for him he should just stand back and let them be. Quote

Well, when I went to New York to see some Broadway and off-Broadway shows, I posted about them here and no one responded. And I do miss the theater discussions over at Daddy's. After all, I started the theater forum there. So I made a decision to post in that forum and put my toe in the water there. But you will still see me just about everyday posting here, and hopefully getting some good conversations started, and continuing with the ones you guys have started. In order to post over there, I did look at the forums. I noticed many names that I did not recognize, but still have some good friends there. Daddy and I are in a state of détente so (see Zipperzone post) I did not have to ask or beg for the privilege of returning to the forums there. Once again, I have not left MER. We do need to boost the post count here. Can one of you come up with a new challenge like we had last August? Quote

Guest hitoallusa Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Lucky have fun at the other forum. I bet a lot of people there missed you. caeron Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 The tone at Daddy's never appealed to me. Bitchy cruel isn't my thing. I left a few years ago as well. I read sometimes, but I no longer post. Quote

Guest gcursor Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Um..hey...I post on Daddy's. I'm not bitchy cruel. I know ur point. As somebody I knew used to say, "Wherever you decide to go, there you are" For every problem situation! TotallyOz Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 So I made a decision to post in that forum and put my toe in the water there. be careful! Quote
Members Lucky Posted July 29, 2011 Author Members Posted July 29, 2011 Oz, that looks just like me. How do you find these things? It's interesting that you say "Be Careful" as we are just talking about a group of gay men who post cordial thoughts on a message board, aren't we? Quote

But, I don't go blind. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I hope you have fun with the forum. Honestly, I do. I was only saying that you got your feelings very hurt once before. I hope that doesn't happen again. I hope that was not uncordial (new word). Quote
Members Lucky Posted July 29, 2011 Author Members Posted July 29, 2011 Well, one of the posters, name of bauer, responded quite intelligently to my first post. He said: "pork, pork, pork!" and then, apparently feeling he needed to elaborate, added another post, saying: "toga, toga, toga." So you can see that these theater discussions can contain some insightful commentary by brains that see beyond the opaque walls of typical theater reviews. I only wish I had thought of it! Quote
caeron Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 It was worse in the days of FFF when people competed, it seemed to me, to say hateful things under the guise of being clever. Now, it seems to ebb and flow, but still is there. I've been on the internet for nearly 30 years at this point, and the anonymous bitching no longer appeals. I enjoyed being 'arch' as my english friends would say in my 20s. These days, not so much. Um..hey...I post on Daddy's. I'm not bitchy cruel. I know ur point. Guest gcursor Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I KNEW IT...caeron is the arch-villain! aha! You didn't think we would discover what you had been doing to Robin and Batman in the Batcave but we have! Now you will have to pay! Superman and Green Lantern have been sent to your evil lair to deal with you PERSONALLY! Gcursor I enjoyed being 'arch' as my english friends would say in my 20s. These days, not so much. Quote
