Outlawing Circumcision

San Francisco is about to put in a ballot the legality of parents to circumcise young boys. There are lots of arguments concerning religion traditions, suffering (some doctors believe causes trauma on the infants, some say the pain is negligible), AIDS prevention, ethnic/racial costumes and others. Althought legitimate concerns, none of that is what we want to discuss here, the traditional media is taking care of that, what they are ignoring is the aesthetics of a cimcumcised penis.

I believe the vast majority of people prefers to look at circumcised dicks. Women, gays and yes even straight guys favor cut dicks, seems to be sorta easy in the eyes. The porn industry, both straight and gay, overwhelming hires circumcised guys, even in regions where uncuts are a majority (Europe, South America). When we see naked guys in erotic art in galleries, books, films, modeling, the circumcised guys have a huge edge In getting the gig.

In my opinion is akin to the clear eyes/ dark eyes situation: the majority of people prefer to look at green / blue eyes instead of dark eyes,is in advertising, movies, showbiz etc. which does not mean that their significant other has to fit the bill. I myself got circumcised in my late twenties and through my life have loved both types. I just wish future generations are not deprived of admiring and experiencing an iconic view of male sexuality.

Interesting viewpoint. Thanks for posting. Reputedly, many adult males have difficulty being circumsized as adults, meaning a not lengthy but somewhat prolonged period of pain. What was your experience, if you don't mind sharing?

Best regards,

Hi,I don't mind sharing at all. I did in NYC in the late eighties in a doctor's office with him and a nurse. Local anesthesia. The whole thing lasted for less than an hour, after resting for an additional half hour I was sent home with a painkiller prescription. I did not feel any pain during the procedure, the pain came later, but was acceptable, the prescription took good care of it. I did not have to return to the doctors office cause he used one of those organic threads that comes off by itsef a week or so later. I only miss work one day after although I would suggest a couple more days off for comfort. About 2 weeks without sex and that' it. Nowadays things might have changed for the better. For one thing I would Google the doctor which it was not possible in the eighties, although nothing bad happened to me.

And from a personal perspective I have no doubt that people prefers circumcised dicks specially in places where you expose yourself like gyms, saunas, nude beaches, dark-rooms etc. The circumcised dick is unquestionably iconic. My point with the thread is aesthetes should have a voice in the matter especially gays and women, the ones that wil suffer diminished pleasure (the majority that prefers cut) but unfortunately they will only listen to bureaucrats that should know better but will pretend they don't want to, and mothers that are no longer in the market.

I grew up around circumcized cocks and was so surprised when I saw my first uncut one. I thought it looked like a little sausage in a bun. Uncut cocks take a lot more maintenance to keep clean. The dirty ones stink as bad as any pussy can.

One of my grossest experiences was a Mexican beach hustler proudly showing off his cheese and wanting me to eat it. Yuck!

The thing that bugs me the most about this situation is that it appears to be spearheaded by a bunch of women. How the hell can they possibly know how men feel about having a foreskin - or not.

To teach them a lesson, I would suggest the withholding of intercourse from them by any uncircumcised man. Let's see how they like that approach.

An interesting aside is that several studies have shown that women married to uncircumcised men have a higher incidence of cervical cancer. Researchers have been unable to determine why this is the case but agree that it is true.

Only in San Francisco could a city council having to cope with an enormous budget shortfall waste time on an absurd non-issue like this. San Francisco has to be the leader in every politically/socially correct issue no matter how trivial. It's a bore!!!!!

Yes...Only in San Francisco. Stay out of the parents decision. I want less legislation in my life not more!

And perhaps Santa Monica in 2012.

From the LA Times article:

Neither the San Francisco nor the Santa Monica proposals contain an exception for religious reasons, which for some transforms the ban into a First Amendment issue. David Lehrer, a Jewish leader, told the LA Times that "It takes the notion of the Mommy State to a ridiculous extreme. It probably touches upon being anti-Semitic." But others in the Jewish community are using the proposal as an opportunity to openly discuss the ambivalence and feelings of conflict that many Jewish parents have when they decide to circumcise their sons. Rabbi Brad Hirschfield recently penned an op-ed in the Jewish Journal in reaction to the Santa Monica initiative. Hirschfield confessed that after the birth of his three daughters, he felt "a certain inchoate sense of relief at being spared the obligation to circumcise them eight days later."

Cervical cancer is caused by a virus similar to HPV. It is not surprising that that viruses might lurk on an uncut penis more readily that on a cut penis. Hygiene of a cut penis is easier to maintain.

There is also a higher rate of HIV infection and STDs in general associated with uncut cocks. The women who are behind this measure are crazy. If they don't want to cut their own son's dicks, that's fine but don't tell anyone else what to do.

It's also a fairly anti-Semitic law.

OMG that is disgusting.

I remember when I saw my first, too - I must have played with it for like an hour. LOL Finally the guy - he was Indian - was like, uh, can we move on? I laugh when I think about it.

That may have been one Reynaldo "Chile" Relleno, who was later recruited and brought to the United States by NARTH, where his hands-on workshop was credited with steering nearly half of its participants toward a wholly heterosexual lifestyle, while the remainder became celibate. rolleyes.gif

I don't recall spending much time with my foreskin, as the standards of the day dictated its speedy removal and delivery to the hospital cat. I like to think that, under different circumstances, it would have become a comforting presence and a favorite plaything. A circumcized friend of mine decided to undergo reconstructive surgery some years back. I recall him being rather well-endowed, so it could not have been a trivial procedure.

I haven't yet been swayed by the religious argument. This would not be the first time an assembly of clerics decided some cockamamie ritual was the entry fee for eternal life. It does get me wondering though whether or not Yahweh Himself was circumsized and, if so, what became of the

mohel who did the deed.

Personally, I haven't yet taken a position on the issue and that's fine, as I'm not a San Francisco voter. I'm content being one of the millions of interested bystanders who are participating in a public discussion for the first time in ages. If I were one of the folks backing the bill, I'd put that increased awareness and debate in the 'win' column.
