Costs of Europe vs Brazil vs U.S.

First let me say that if this belongs in another forum feel free to move it, since i am discussing the costs of Brazil vs. Europe(prague) and a lesser extent the U.S. I wasn't sure were to put it!

Europe is starting to be more Price attractive than Brazil, while both are still considerably less expensive for hourly escort rates than the U.S.

After just getting back from Prague and getting reservations made for a return trip to Rio in June, I started thinking about the costs of paying for sex in Brazil, Europe and here in the U.S. and the changes in the past year or so. Brazil used to be a travel bargain for Hotel, food , and sex! But with Brazil becoming a world force economically, the development of a middle class and the strength of their Dollar, it’s not the great travel deal it was even a year ago!

Now let me say, IMHO, discounting the cost, there is still no better place to find available escorts in terms of quantity and quality in one venue than the saunas!

Current rates in Rio are typically $70. To more commonly $100.Reais, which are equal to U.S. $42. – 61.00 In Prague last week the guys were asking from Czk 1200.(normal) to 4,000.(asked but not gotten!) or U.S. 68. to 228. Most guys we paid $1500 Czk. The exception being two well-known porn stars who asked $2800 Czk (160. U.S.) and got it!!  I also go to Barcelona and rates there are around $40 to 50 Euros in the sauna or roughly the same as Prague and is as much fun as Prague.

Up until this year I was booking the Atlantico hotel in Rio for U.S. $75. to 110. a night. They are asking $160./nt for June and for October this year, neither month are considered high season and internet is extra! In Prague a nice apt with free Wi-Fi is $75./nt.!

I have done very little escort hiring in the U.S. the past 5 years with the exception of twice a year visits to Ft. Lauderdale and Johnny’s and Boardwalk where I usually have spent $200. a guy. whether this is on the low end or average now for escorts in the U.S. I don't know.

The one thing about Brazil is the guys u have back to the hotel never watch the clock and usually I have to say “well, guess we better get going!”. Prague guys do not seem to be clock watchers either. Very different from my experiences hiring in the U.S.!

Airfares, I have status on American Airlines so I don’t fly other airlines unless they are one world partners, so I can’t speak as how they compare, but the last three trips to Rio my airfare averaged $200 to $400. more than my tickets to Europe from L.A.

While I am not going to stop going to Brazil I will probably cut one or two trips a year to Brazil and adding one or two more to Europe.

Thanks for your report, Tomcal.. Just wondering, in your travels, have you been to Thailand? I am considering Thailand or Europe for my vacation in November as options to Rio.. I hear very good things from a price perspective for Thailand. The main drawback in my mind is the LONG flight duration to get there...I think of you as one of our MER worldly ambassadors for sex vacations..so I thought I would ask if you have any Thai experience.

Lurker, I have never been to Thailand! but just last week I got a very nice message from OZ inviting to visit Thailand, but my travel plans for this year are set with two more trips to Brazil and one more to Prague/Barcelona in the fall. So we will have to rely on your reporting skills!!

The thing is that Barcelona is not really representative of Europe as a whole. Spain currently has a 20 percent plus unemployment rate which has pushed more people into sex work and lowered prices. Also, the cost of living in Spain is lower than anywhere else in the Euro zone.

If you were to try to hire those same escorts in France or Germany, where the cost of living is higher and unemployment lower, you'd probably end up spending about twice as much.

For Thailand, the normal rate for a short time varies depending on the city. For example, in Bangkok if you take from GayRomeo it is usually 1,000 baht (or 32 USD). If you take from a bar that is in the Saphon area it is 1,000 bath. If you take from a bar on Soi Twilight it is 1200 - 1500 baht (32-50 USD).

If you are in Pattaya, the rate is normally 1,000 baht for a short time but if you go to Sunee Plaza it is less. Gay Romeo is even less.

There are always deals in Thailand and many boys are very excited to stay with you for 1500 baht a day for multiple days. That gives them a guarantee daily income.

The massage places in Bangkok are mostly 1,000 baht minimum but those are the ones that Happy Ending is expected. The normal massage places where there are Thai's working are still most likely willing to do happy ending for less.

Bottom line, treat the boy nice and he will take great care of you!
