In this case, the "someone" hasn't posted on the site since September 15, 2009, yet he says people write to him when they are upset with something about the site. Really. Here's the quote: "It's not just you and it's not limited to that travel thread. I think this is generally something many members - if I'm to believe the emails I've received, which prompted me to take a look - are finding to be a turn-off." Get that? He doesn't read the site anymore, has no interest in it, by golly. But when the folks email him, well, he has no choice, does he, but to intervene on behalf of the little people who cannot speak up on the subject for themselves. So he did intervene, and attacked some of the posters on the site for being too clubby, and insinuated that a traveling escort coming to New York might see all his customers gone if these same cliques make everyone else think the escort is way too busy for them. We all know what would happen if that were the case, don't we? In New York, all those unsatisfied by the traveling escort would call a local escort, say, um, well, Rick Munroe, wouldn't they? He has the advantage of posting on that site since September 15, 2009, so people know him. Fact is, though, if they know Rick, why did they write their complaints to Doug69? Doug69 has always been one to stir the pot, a somewhat more eloquent version of Donald Trump. But I have to agree with him on the gushing aspect however. The cult of the celebrity escorts and their jetsetting retinue of fawning fans can be overwhelming, there are just a few guys that get so much worshipful press that I frequently suspect some serious cabalistic astroturfing is going on. All these three, four, five-way weekend porn re-enactment jaunts on what I can only imagine are mattresses made of hundred-dollar bills. I'd feel very challenged to keep up with the Four Seasons lifestyles to which these golden boys must've become accustomed. I've tried a few A-list escorts along the way and while I'll admit the guys I saw were great, they are also traveling much of the time, therefore often unavailable for regular visits, and their rates run quite high, up and out of my price range. I'll stay with the reasonable and more available hobby guys who have day jobs and like to augment their income here and there. And I'll be the quietly satisfied client giving discreet recommendations when asked. Meanwhile back to lurking and enjoying the show. It's like a reading an issue of gay tigerbeat with some ofthose guys. They act like 14 year old girls. MER doesn't function like that. Why i like it better here. what i don't like about the 4 or 5 esorts who are always fawned over is that they are basically passed around on that board like meat. makes them escorts I'd never see. not attractive to me at all. I left out of my summary above that one of the crimes these "gushers" had committed was going to the Palm Springs Weekend and, shockingly, bringing an escort with him! That expose plus other posts by Doug69 would be the exact reason members of Daddy's site would go to him about the tennage girl club who swoon over and over about a half dozen escorts over there. But, since he hasn't posted under that name since September 2009, I doubt anyone is ending him emails about the "gushers." I think he sees them under his regular posting name. Why is he so upset that some on the site have their favorite escorts? Isn't that part of the nature of this business? But, if he is a New York escort himself, as I believe, he may not like another escort, more popular than he, coming into New York and taking business that might have gone to him. Maybe he resents the fact that he is no longer the escort people gush over. If I wanted someone as an ally, I would want someone I could trust. That would mean it would be someone who doesn't use one name for his nice stuff, then another for his nasty stuff. It's as simple as that. Unless someone snagged the Doug69 userid, I would seriously doubt the curmudgeonly member of days past is a NY escort. I can often spot some duplicitious posters writing under multiple names, and a Doug69 alter-ego should be very identifiable given his rather unique style. I would guess he's an attorney given his propensity to butt heads at every opportunity, along with his crack research skills. I kind of miss him (in a perverse bite my tongue way), as he kept things lively and stirred up, he had an acerbic witty intellect which cut through the overly saccharine tone that overtakes the forum with no conservative antagonists on the prowl, except for that cartoon caricature MickieMoosie who just tries too damn hard. What used to get my goat about he and Woodlawn <shivers> was their making use of the pay-to-play services while disparaging the escorts and their chosen profession. A typical self loathing social conservative tactic worthy of Exodus and Ted Haggard. Made for some lively forum pyrotechnics though, now it often feels like a long-running gay men's group therapy session... And I've been in more than my share of those. Not that there's anything wrong... I do, however, agree with his basic "gusher" thread sentiment that these "livin' large" maxi-members with their "favorites" are not doing their sweet darlings any favors by going on and on to such an extent. It really starts to seem less like a friends' recommendation and more like a sales job. I guess it's fine for members that thrive on the cliquish in-crowd nature of the proceedings, but I know by direct discussions it does drive potential members and clients away from the forum and its "chosen ones".... He has not posted under his 'donnie' screen name is a while, but always pops up to take a swipe now n then. even I've got to give doug credit for his backwork on BN's problem, but that's also something that happened many years ago. He's been quiet since. I don't have problems with people talking up their escorts (i do it too), but don't like the insider/outsider feeling that the other message board has now.
