Ok.. where to start...

Apartment==it is on the second floor of a multistory building, just around the corner from the Copacabana Palace Hotel.. So it is a block from the beach--but no ocean view. It faces a small street in between buildings, with shops on the first floor and apartments above. It is a decent sized 2 bedroom one bath apartment, with what I would guess to be between 700-800 sq ft.Hardwood floors in the living area and tile in the bedroooms. It features a large terrace overlooking the street below. Entry from the street is through a locked/gated doorway, with 24 hr doorman..Guests are welcome as long as they sign in. Living room features a couch, a couple of chairs, tv with cable (includes some English speaking channels), a small stereo, plus a table;chairs. Both bedrooms offer double beds and small chest for clothes. Both mattresses are very hard/firm. Bathroom is basic with shower, toilet and sink. Shower has medium pressure but water is not overly hot.

There is a subway stop (Cardeal Arcoverde) as well as numerous restaurants and shops within a 2 minute walk..

Now for the parts you REALLY want to hear...For my first nite, I went to Meio Mundo.. My travel friend arrives on Friday, and on past visits, he has not cared for MM, so I wanted to have a nite there before he arrived. All I can say is WOW.. many beautiful boys... It was a birthday celebration for someone, so they had a big beautiful buffet set up and had a show with live singer. I arrived around 5:30 before it got too busy so I could get acclimated to the current scene. I changed into my towel and went to the lounge, where I ordered by coke zero and sat back to observe. I had a few boys come by and try to "entertain" me, but either they weren't my type or I wasnt ready yet. I sat around for about an hour and a half until I was ready to play..I would guestimate at that time that there were 20-25 boys and about the same or a little less customers. I had seen one boy who had interested me, so I caught his eye had he came over.

Alex was a cute thing, young, thin, energetic..good kisser. He promised to be complecto for sexo..After some time of petting in the lounge, we started negotiating. He asked for 90. I said I pay 60. He said 70. I repeated 60 and he agreed. Upstairs it wasnt as good as in the lounge. He wouldnt suck without a condom. He wanted me to top him, but he wanted another 40 for it. He couldnt maintain an erection....so after about 30 minutes, I just concluded the programma.... First session rated C- to D.. I decided to save myself for another (hopefully better) programma before heading home for the night.

I went back to the lounge and watched some of the show (surrounded by a bunch of enthusiastic boys, who were unfortunatly, not to my prefernce). I excused myself and went downstairs to the tv lounge and shower area..I spent a little time down there, made out a little with a boy who I promised to see later during my visit (I liked him but wasnt in the mood for him at the time). I went to my locker and got a 5Reals bill to give him after spending a few minutes making out with him.. I went back up to the lounge and ended up meeting a cute boy (I didnt get his name). We ended up "becoming acquainted" and getting a cabine. Oh I forgot to mention, both times, the boys went straight for the free cabines, without questioning it..

This boy was much better upstairs.Hard, hot, and ready to perform. I was a little intimidated as he was definitely a grower when it came to width, but his patience and persistance paid off..He had readily agreed to 60R and I ended up giving him 70 for a job well done..

At this point, it was around 9;30, I was tired after my long travels the night before, so I called it an evening at MM. I made it back to subway and headed to Corujinhas for a late nite bite. Corujinhas was not very busy--there was a soccer game on the tv that had the few patrons and servers occupied. One attractive working boy come up and joined someone else watching the game. I ate my pizza and drank my pepsi lite and left..

End of day one..

As day two is starting, I am about to head to Ipanema for some baby chickens for lunch..

One thing I forgot to mention from last nite.. entrance fee at Meio Mundo was 35R.. add to that assorted non-alcoholic beverages and a meal for one boy, plus 2 "kits" for my two programmas, and I paid 61R to the sauna (kit is a term for a couple of condoms and lube packet).. add to that the price of the two programmas ( 60R and 70R) and day one cost me 191R at the sauna..which converts to about 118 USD $..

now i am off to 117 for my last night alone before txalphadog arrives in the morning.

Sorry for the delay in my latest post. I had a long detailed report, but before I hit “send”, accidentally deleted it all..so…without further delay..

Day 2…Thursday

Started at 117. Arrived a little after 5:30. From my two prior trips to Rio, the saunas started getting busy between 5:30 and 6:00 each evening. Not this time. 5:30 and 117 was deserted…6:00 still deserted. I did see three boys I recognized from my last trip. First was Henrique (or Enrique), who was my first boy on the last trip.. He was mentioned by another poster recently as resembling a lighter complected Nick Cannon. Second was a boy I referred to as “bruto”.. he was a really cute, blond haired twink boy who claimed to be total top..According to my sources, he wouldn’t kiss, he wouldn’t suck, all he wanted was to be sucked and to top.. So, despite my attraction, I had never really talked with him much. I did post a picture of him before, back from last time when he had his blonde hair. Now he is back to his natural dark hair. Third boy I recognized was one we called Subway boy. Last trip, on at least 3-4 occasions, he left 117 at the same time we had and got on the subway in the same direction we had..He was a cute shorter guy with a hot bod and a BIG dick, but his face was pock marked.

Still, no one that was a “have to have”.. I saw a sign about professional massage and inquired. They went for 40R for half hour or 70R for full hour. I ended up getting a half hour massage. The massage was good, I would rate it a B+/A- as far as therapeutic massages go. When my massage was over, it was around 7:30 and after a stroll around, I still saw no one that struck my fancy. So, I left and headed over to Meio Mundo.

Upon entering Meio Mundo, I found a slightly larger crowd than 117, but still less than previous years. I went to the lounge and ordered my Coke Zero and sat there people watching. Across the room were two boys engrossed in their cell phone, either texting or gameplaying. Both were younger, twinkish, and appeared to be what I would consider gayboys instead of gay for pay..After quite some time of them playing with the phone, oblivious to everything around them, I finally made eye contact with one. We ended up having a programma.. He initially asked for 80R, I told him I pay 60R. He was hesitant at that price if he had to be passivo, but agreed when I told him he didn’t have to be, he agreed to the price. Long story short, Jefferson turned out to be a good programma, but if my senses are right, he is more of a bottomboy then he lets on….

It was around 9:45 by this time, and I was still kinda tired, so I headed back to Copacabana. I felt like more of a variety of food for dinner, so I stopped by the old stand by, Siguera Grill…For those not familiar, it is a fairly popular buffet style restaurant where they charge by the weight (por kilo).. I had one decent sized plate, a coke zero and some dessert, and my bill came to 43R (about 30USD). While the flavors of the food were good, the temperature of the hot food was lukewarm. Not one thing was piping hot.. Don’t know about you, but when I spend 30USD, I expect my hot food to be hot… Oh well.. chalk it up to another nite of not speaking the language..

You must be a good top, Lukerspeaks, I believe he enjoyed you. ^_^ You spent 30 dollars at a buffet and food was not hot! I have to speak to a manager there. :( I would go to a local market and buy your own ingredient and cook at your apartment. It's not that difficult and save some for later. Problem for me is that I have to finish my left overs right there. I love food. I can cook all day and I don't think I will get tired.

Day 3--Friday

TxAlphadog arrived this morning. After a quick shower/shave/cleanup, we headed out for him to get his first Acai of the trip.. For those unfamiliar, the acai berry is a local fruit that is made into a smoothie here. It is a local delicacy that you can’t find in the US (not in the same, natural state)..

After the Acai, we headed to Ipanema to grab some baby chickens for lunch. There is a restaurant near the gay beach of Ipanema that has the most delicious rotisserie baby chickens…Once you have them, you will never forget them… After getting our fill, we headed back to relax and nap until sauna time..

Wednesday was a beautiful day, sunny and mild. Thursday was still mild but cloudy.. The rain started at about 4:30am Friday morning, and continued off and on all day…

In between downpours, we made it to the subway and headed to 117, arriving around 6pm. Much to our dismay, still a very sparce crowd. We nursed coke zeros for awhile in the lounge, then walked around, sat in the steam room, and checked out the crowd (or lack there of). Just when I was beginning to give up hope, who should show up by my favorite boy from my last trip in November 2009. Even more surprisingly, he remembered me. We quickly caught up on old times, and he remembered that last time I had had him and another boy for a threeway..He asked if I wanted to do another threeway. I told him to find a boy that he was interested in and I would see.. Well, he brought back a boy that TXalphadog and I had noticed earlier and had on our “possible” list.. After some short negotiations, they agreed to 70R each and we were off…My boy from last year (Then he went by Charles, now he is Rafael) is still a little activo studmuffin, and the boy he chose (Saul) was definitely willing to “chupa pao” and bottom..it was definitely worth the money for the two of them together…suffice it to say that we went thru 3 kits (6 condoms plus lube packets).

When I finished with them and went back to the lounge, TxAlphadog was MIA.. he reappeared 20 or so minutes later, with a big smile on his face. He had discovered Marco, a slightly taller and more muscular than his normal type guy. According to TxAlphadog, Marco had flawless skin, not a blemish or hair anywhere…

It was boybingo night, and we tried to play, but when you don’t understand the language, and it seems like they keep changing the rules, we finally gave up and left, both very satisfied..

We made it to Corujinhas for a late dinner just as the rain started coming down again.. Luckily as we finished up, the rain let up again, so we made the stroll back to our apartment without getting drenched. We had discussed about having our one “splurge” meal be Sunday Brunch at the Copacabana Palace this year, since it is right around the corner from our apartment. We stopped in the Palace on our way home to inquire about brunch. To our dismay, it is 170R per person plus 10%.. so close to 150USD for a Sunday brunch.. Needless to say, we decided to pass.

he was the top in our encounter, but my gaydar tells me he prefers/is more experienced on bottom. As far as restaurants, if I had been able to speak the language, I would have spoken up, but I don't speak Portuguese, so I just paid my money and left. I take the responsibility that I am the visitor in their country and if I am not able to convey my dissatisfaction, then that is MY issue.

What their brunch is expensive than that of a five star hotel in the US??? I think you can get a better deal here in the US Lurkerspeaks. I went to a buffet restaurant in Greensboro, NC during a business trip last month and I had the best buffet for 8 dollars for lunch. They had sushi station, hibachi station and several buffet stations. It's pretty new. It's called China Buffet. I believe for dinner they charge 12 dollars. I loved it. Sad thing is that I was with my colleagues and I didn't want them to gossip about how many plates I had there so I only had 4 plates. Whenever I go to a buffet restaurant I go by myself. Avoid girl friends and business partners and escorts. Some escorts don't like buffet restaurants and I'm not hiring them any more. ^_^

There is a microwave oven not far from the salad bar/food area. It is located against the wall to the left of near the entrance that leads to the second dining area. I have never had to wait to use the microwave because I noticed that most Brazilians did not use it as they like their food "lukewarm" like you described. Next time you are in Siqueira Grill restaurant, try using their microwave, it makes a difference when the temperature of the food is to your liking.

mvan1 you are right. I think I found the microwave on this youtube video. Top right corner at 42 seconds.

Thanks for the video. That is the place. Yes, I briefly saw the white microwave oven.

Did you notice that there appeared to be no one waiting to use it?

For reasons not understandable by me, Brazilians enjoy their food lukewarm. When food is hot, many Brazilians wait until it cools before eating.

I think the microwave over is for the few foreigners that frequent the restaurant.

The utube video was right on.

hitoallusa-- when one is in an apartment in either Rio de janeiro or Buenos Aires, and I have been in the latter on 3 occasions--he DOES NOT feel like cooking when there is a plethora of excellent restaurants around in both cities.

It is so much easier and convenient to pop into any venue and order. It saves having to shop, prepare, etc.

In Buenos Aires it is much cheaper to eat in their restaurants than to do it yourself. Rio's restaurant prices were highly reasonable a few years back, but apparently that has changed since its currency (the REAL--pronounced as "H") has taken a huge rebound during the past 3 years over the US dollar.

In both countries one gets a huge serving of food at most restaurants-- BIG enough to share one entree with a partner or guest.

Thought I'd mention the above as an FYI!!!

Saturday morning...

woke up to more overcast skies and drizzling rain.. Checked weather forecast for the rest of my stay.. saying scattered showers and/or thundershowers, so that puts a damper on things. I had hoped to hit the weekend hippie fair in Ipanema. not sure if it will still be going on with the weather or not..

Axiom thank you. You are so sweet. I wasn't trying tell Lurkerspeaks what to do with his meal. It's just exciting for me to cook in a foreign country with her fresh ingredients. I think Lurkespeaks mentioned before he is a chef or something so that's why I want to hear from him about his culinary adventure. I might be wrong. Have fun Lurkerspeaks. I am subscribed to your travel posts. So excited to read about it. Hugs~~~

I am enjoying this adventure so much. You write like I'm there as I can picture the venues and the boys. Thank you!

Keep having fun!

Do you go to the Hippie Faire this Sunday? I hope it doesn't rain for you as that is one of my favorite things to do on Sunday. I have bought some nice painting there over the years.

"I had one decent sized plate, a coke zero and some dessert, and my bill came to 43R (about 30USD)."

Can you define "one decent sized plate" for me please? I frequent this restaurant fairly often. Sometimes I am alone while other times I am with a garoto or other times with some friends.

The only time my bill runs high is when I am with a garoto who fills his plate almost to the sky. I cannot imagine how anyone eating alone at Siqiera Grill in Rio could have a bill as high as you were charged. It is not that thirty dollars is a lot of money. I wonder if the cashier made a mistake when you paid your bill.

I realize that "one decent sized plate" might mean what a typical garoto would put on a plate.

Next time you are there, remember to use the microwave oven to make your food hot. Thanks again for the person who posted the video of the restaurant that showed the microwave oven.

Ok.. my posts on this vacation are over.. First, I get chastised from a poster over my plate size at a restaurant in a public post.. then I get a pvt message from another poster who is telling me "Why bother when you seem to enjoy making lots of mistakes? I suppose it gives you more garbage to write about. Instead of having a better, less expensive vacation? " I never mentioned that this vacation was about pinching pennies. I merely mentioned prices to give some perspectives to others who might not have been here recently..

Story over.. once again the few loud voices ruin it for the many. Lurkerspeaks
