Gaybutton Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 A tip-of-the-hat goes to Wowpow. He discovered the method and posted it on the Beer Bar forum. I think it should be posted here too, since this is the most widely read forum on this board. Here's how to set everything back to normal: 1. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page. 2. You'll see a box that says "IPB 2.2.0 Default," with a drop-down arrow next to it. 3. Click the drop-down arrow. 4. Select "Test Default" That restores everything to normal. Thank you, Wowpow. Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Thanks Wowpow... It works :-) TJ Quote

Guest wowpow Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Since the mover to a new server there are a number of annoying problems that I have not discovered how to surmount or get info about: 1) The centering of the copy thing seems erratic. On my Safari browser I am now lined to the left but on Firefox still centered though I can change this, it speeds up the board and I loose all the porn links! and most GayThailand links. 2) I am unable to remain logged in for any length of time despite ticking the box. All the other sites keep me logged in from my home computer. 3) I still lose my copy if I pop to another page to check some information. I know it is surmountable ( nice word ) but no other site that I use has this problem. 4) It seems impossible to post a photo at present. The correct link changes when you post it and readers have to click on the link to see the photo. I do hope that these items can be resolved to make using the board fun and a pleasure. Quote

This option seems to have suddenly disappeared and the "IPB 2.2.0 Default" box is missing. Are the owner/moderator now forcing us to have everything squashed into the middle of the screen ? p/s I AM logged in. Quote
Gaybutton Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 This option seems to have suddenly disappeared and the "IPB 2.2.0 Default" box is missing. The same thing is happening to me, so I assume it's happening to everyone. I have no idea what has happened or why that box has disappeared. I sent a message off to Stef, who is in charge of the programming. Hopefully the problem will be quickly fixed. Quote
Guest Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I don't know the answer to this but it is being worked on. Quote
Guest wowpow Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Well I was using Firefox Browser and I searched everywhere to try to get rid of the unwanted centering - to no avail. My last resort was to change browser to Safari and "voila" back to the old style with copy to the left. Safari 3 is free and works on Windows and Macs. http://www.apple.com/safari/ Mr Stef has Apple computers as do I. Quote
Gaybutton Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 The problem seems to be solved, so I'm un-pinning this topic. Quote
Guest buaseng Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 The problem seems to be solved, so I'm un-pinning this topic. Sorry GB but I see no difference from my previous post (24 Sep). The "IPB 2.2.0 default" option is stil missing and I can see no other way of un-centering the display (and getting rid of the porn banners - but maybe that's why the option has been removed thereby forcing readers to view the banners?). Perhaps you know of another way? As it is, it is 'effing' annoying !! Quote
Gaybutton Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 Perhaps you know of another way? As it is, it is 'effing' annoying !! No, I'm sorry, but I don't. I don't understand why you are still experiencing the problem. It's working fine for me now. I'm sorry. I assumed that if it's working for me then it's working for everyone. I use the Firefox browser, if that helps. The only suggestion I can come up with is to try clearing your cache and hitting the refresh button. The web site owner is certain to see this post, so he will be aware that there is still a problem. It might help to let him know what browser you're using. Quote
Guest buaseng Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 web site owner is certain to see this post, so he will be aware that there is still a problem. It might help to let him know what browser you're using. OS Windows XP. Internet Explorer - and NO I don't want to change browers. The option worked fine before. It's just that the 'IPB 2.2.0 Default option' has disappeared and therefore the ability to get round the centered problem etc. I have cleaned my cache already (and rebooted) but to no avail. If it cannot be sorted out this is one member you will be losing (but you may well consider that it is no loss ! ) however, I suspect that others may follow. Quote
Bob Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I'm using VISTA and the latest IE and the centering magically went away a couple of days ago. While the centering was a bit annoying, I didn't see it as such a life crisis that I would abandon the board about it. Maybe I'll just throw myself off the Pattaya Tower over it....haha. Quote
Guest buaseng Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 The web site owner is certain to see this post, so he will be aware that there is still a problem. It might help to let him know what browser you're using. I wonder when the site owner (Gay Thailand) or Stef - (the web-master?) are going to address the problem I have outlined in recent posts (or at least acknowledge that they are looking into it) and provide a solution? Or Has the option to un-centre the display and get rid of the porn banners after logging-in gone forever? Reply please. Quote
Gaybutton Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 I can't answer you about why you are still getting everything centered. Is anyone else out there still having that problem? I can, however, help you a little bit with getting rid of the banners. I use Adblock plus, which is a free program. You can download it at http://adblockplus.org/en . You might have to block a lot of ads until it stops all of them on certain web sites, including this one, but once you do you're not plagued by them anymore. Quote
Smiles Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Well, it's red letter day in my books! Today is the first day in quite a long time I've opened up GayThailand message board where the posts have NOT been all centered. So it looks as though the guru(s) behind the scenes have finally figured out the glitch. Cheers ... Quote
bkkguy Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I can, however, help you a little bit with getting rid of the banners. as a moderator of a forum on a web site that (at least in part) only continues to survive because of advertising revenue such a recommendation is perhaps a tad unwise! bkkguy Quote
Guest wowpow Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Well a tip-o-the-hat to Gaybutton - it works. As I didn't go to those adverts then nothing is lost to the site. Quote
