Members ihpguy Posted February 11, 2011 Members Posted February 11, 2011 Any GLEEK's around? I was left a little disappointed by the Superbowl Thriller episode. Kind of like the game is normally. And I suppose it kind of matched the BEP performance. Only thing that might have helped is if Fergie had taken Josh Duhamel from behind during the show. Now that would have topped the Janet Jackson "malfunction". Imagine getting to see some tranny peen. Anyway, I loved the direction of the V-DAY show. They brought in Tate Donovan once more. He's great. At least I thought so. He does lots of interesting stuff. Including the look-alike version of himself as Darren Criss' love interest. Anyone else catch that? The show ended on a high note at Breadsticks. I'm sure it will be another iTunes download hit. The producers must be making and absolute fortune. Their version of "Teenage Dream" has been gigantic. I was having a programa in Meio Mundo and the noise from the showbar is blasting through the paper thin walls from downstairs. The day before, I'm in my local fruit and veggie stand and this old lady is singing along with the radio, she knows some of the lyrics and doesn't even speak English. Crazy. Quote
Guest EXPAT Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 My favorite line from Glee this past week was from Santana: "I've had mono so many times, it's turned into stereo"! LMAO Quote
Guest FourAces Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I have tried several times to watch this show and just cannot get interested. Every self respecting gay man I know loves it ... I feel so small when a few of us are out to dinner and Glee becomes a conversation Quote
Members ihpguy Posted February 12, 2011 Author Members Posted February 12, 2011 I thought that Santana's line was funny as well. Also the whole Puckerman/Zeisis interaction with her being a woman with curves and the Ohio state high school Greco-Roman wrestling champion. The way she tossed around Santana in the hallway was priceless. And at the end, Coach Bieste throws Santana on her shoulder and carries her to the nurse. Tate Donovan's direction of the V-day episode was spot on. There is so much going on that the episode demands repeated viewing to really notice everything that is there. Layers and layers of action. Regular episodic TV just doesn't compare. The GAP song with the warblers and the direction and editing...Wow! Four Aces... give it another try. If you don't get off on the singing by Darren Criss and Mark Salling, maybe you aren't really gay? Quote

To be honest... the show's writing and story telling are (quite frankly) really bad. That's usually a non-starter for most gay men, so don't feel bad if you didn't take to it early. I actually didn't like it much either, 1st season, and gave up watching it in spite of: 1) Really liking music and musical theater 2) Sort of thinking Chris Colfer was cute and enjoying watching an openly gay character be so popular. I gave it a second chance when my friend got cast as a Dalton Warbler... and now I really enjoy it because some of the recent songs are really fun to listen to, it's fun to watch my friend sing and dance, and Chord Overstreet is really fun to oggle. Sadly, the writing and story telling did not get better but I figure if I can listen to a cute twink tell me about his terrible day at the hairdresser in order to jump into bed with him, I can endure some bad storytelling to listen to catchy music and look at Chord take off his shirt! Guest lurkerspeaks Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Back on topic: What did folks think of this week's Bieber episode - I was really disappointed. It was ok.. not one of the best though.. I think that in a few weeks when Santana screws over Sam, he needs to sing Grenade by Bruno Mars... On another note, since Ryan Murphy has said that some cast members will "graduate" and move on since they are too old to play high schoolers any more, why not hire actual high school age actors/singers? Last year on American Idol there were a couple of teenage singers who made it to the top 10, such as Aaron Kelly.. or how about the 13 or 14 year old Grayson Chance who has the viral youtube video covering Gaga's Papparazi? He could be a new freshman and provide potentially 4 years of talent..I am sure they (actual teenagers) would be limited in the number of hours they could work due to child labor laws, but other shows are able to accommodate them. Members ihpguy Posted February 24, 2011 Author Members Posted February 24, 2011 More than a bit disappointed with this week's episode on alcohol. Preachy, disjointed. Eric Stoltz directed this one so I was hoping for something a bit more. Tate Donovan was better two weeks back. Nothing very interesting on the camera work. Not too sure about the light blue vomit? Some very funny one-liners. Loved the Lea Darrin kiss. Can I take Lea's place? I want me some Pinoy lovein! Quote
