Members Lucky Posted December 31, 2010 Members Share Posted December 31, 2010 Well, I am the one who encouraged lots of comments on this topic, so I take what came and now it's time for management to make its decision.I recommended Hooboy's Place but am not sworn to it. What we all want is something that goes well with the spirit of the site, and I don't doubt that we will get a name that everyone can live with. I have enjoyed having the forum named after me, but I understood all along that it was temporary. Whatever the name of the forum, I hope there is always a place here for Lucky. There are plenty of posters at the other site who have indicated that they miss him there, but they don't seem inclined to post here, and a few there have openly wished him good riddance, so they are definitely not coming here (nor would I want to see them here). If my comments offended, I apologize. Gee, it never occurred to me when I proposed to Oz that naming the place after Lucky would be construed as an attempt to lure posters from over there. I was confident that anyone attracted by Lucky's presence would be for the purpose of interacting with him. My intention was only to honor his efforts on behalf of this site, to show our appreciation. Sometimes I'm a little obtuse to the persepctives that others might have. This is a pretty small pond we're all swimming in. It's obvious that they would come from over there, but the attraction would be either to interact with him or because of his reasons for coming here. It just never occured to me that anyone would come just because we named a forum in his honor some time after he had issued his August Challnege and raised high his profile here. In fact I still cannot believe that anyone came here because of that action. I know Lucky has some good friends but I'm unaware of any that would worship at the altar of his namesake. So what I am saying is that I cannot imgaine that the Lucky effect, whatever it is/was, had anything to do with the naming of the forum. It would have been the same with or without the name change IMO, with the possible exception that one or two might have resented it and dropped out. We have placed a temporary name on the forum. This site was almost named Hooboy.com. I like the name and thought it appropriate. I caved in years ago as many said it was be offensive to others on the other site. I listened and regretted it ever since. Hooboy was a dear friend and someone I cared for a great deal. It's long, has no cachet and is just downright boring (IMHO) Surely a bunch of gay guys can come up with something more inventive than this. I am a little surprised you did not go with that name (I am guessing you own the domain) otherwise it kind of a moot point. Is it really too late to change the name?
