Why do some Clients / Customers have an Agenda?

Recommended Posts

I have been around too long to play games with other clients / customers. I write reviews of guys who are good so that others will see them. I want them to get work. I want them to make more money. Frankly, I don't understand why a client would not want this for someone they like.

I know of one client that I see EVERY time I am in Brazil. He is a nice guy but he always comes to me with an agenda. He wants to tell me who is good in bed and who is a thief. I learned several years ago to ignore what he says. If he says someone stole from him, that means he likes the boy and doesn't want him with other customers. If he tells me a boy is only Activo that means that he will do anything and that I should see him fast.

Yesterday, I saw him and had a friendly chat. He told me that one guy was Activo only and I would not be interested in him. Well, I am pretty versatile myself so that doesn't really bother me but I have never gotten into a conversation with the guy about what I like to do with guys and what I don't do. So, as soon as he started trying to sell me on what a bad guy one boy was, I knew this guy was a must see. I did see him and had a great time.

My question is: why do some not want others to see guys that are good? If I honestly thought that this guy only made a mistake once, I would be OK with that but it has been at least 50 times over the last 7 years. I knew this a few years back when at Club 117, he told me how horrible a guy was that I was going to see and then I changed my mind. The boy got up from my table and I saw the man down stairs negotiating with him for a short time himself. LOL I was not upset or angry, but I knew then that I could not trust the guy for anything.

Several American friends have had similar experiences with this gentleman. When a guy is working, would you not want that guy to get as much work as possible if you liked him? Would you not want to help him succeed? Why would you want to keep him to yourself?

Interesting thread.. i agree with all you say and can only guess as to his reasoning..Maybe the client feels that if the boy misses out on more business, he will honor a lower price with this client since some money is better than no money. Maybe this client is one of those who imagines that every sauna boy he likes will become his namorado and should not see other men...

Unfortunately, not all men enjoy seeing those around them succeed. Some get a selfish satisfaction from seeing others struggle-it makes them feel superior. Just my two cents worth...

I am eagerly awaiting your reports (as well as Tomcal's) of Rio.. I was supposed to be there myself in less than a month, but since I became "a statistic" last month and lost my job, I had to cancel my trip until things turn around. So the "vicarious life" of Rio is all I will have for the time being.

It is quite simple. The same reason most mammals mark their territory with urine. It's all territorial, whether because he doesn't want to share the person, or compete for price, or availability, or all of the above. Some people believe in communal sharing, others believe in hoarding. It' all as old as dirt.

Ot it could be simple jealousy. Not everyone feels they can compete with those who have sparkling personalities and generous hearts.

The headline here refers to the plural of clients, yet the meat of the post is against one individual. Why not have a heart to heart with him about your gripe? I have never experienced what you are talking about at all. But if someone proves to be an untrustworthy source of information, go elsewhere. It's as simple as that.

Who knows the motivation... could be monetary as suggested by lurker, or could be emotional.... he wouldn't be the first person to try to hide someone from others to keep for himself. It just doesnt work that well in a SAUNA! ^_^ But jealousy, for whatever incites it, is a powerful force.

Of the prostitute

And the man

Who fell in love...

with her.

First there is desire

Then... passion!

Then... suspicion!

Jealousy! Anger! Betrayel!

Where love is for the highest bidder,

There can be no trust.

Without trust,.

There is no love!

Jealousy.

Yes, jealousy...

His eyes upon your face

His hand upon your hand

His lips caress your skin

It's more than I can stand

Why does my heart cry?

Feelings I can't fight

You're free to leave me, but just don't deceive me

And please believe me when I say I love you

I've discussed this with other clients and I can definitely see both sides.

On the one hand, we want the rentboys to do well, be successful and keep offering their services, as well as having other clients share in the bounty, maybe encourage other rentboys to come into the business and increase the offerings for everybody.

On the other hand, once a guy gets publicized with glowing reviews, the rich daddies swoop in, encourage him to raise his rates, shower him with money for overnights, weekends, week-long trips overseas, and we office-class schlubs can kiss that guy goodbye - unavailable for the foreseeable future until the gentry get tired of his aging ass.

Witness Benjamin Nichols and his rate inflation and general unavailability ,or several local Los Angeles guys I could name.

I'm glad to review the traveling escorts and the $200+ guys who are already too expensive to see on a regular basis, but I'm pretty hesitant to review my local non-pros, who don't really advertise on the high profile rentboy sites anyway, and who I really hope don't quit their day jobs for drifting about the Caribbean on daddy's yachts.

Well, that is a true comment. It's been argued for a long time that tourists should pay the local rates and not inflate the prices for those who live, say, in Rio, and cannot match some of the Americans in the money they shower upon these guys. But, it's true in the US too. Guys with lots of dough showing their love with money and gifts. BUT, if I were rich and enamored of a guy, I probably would do the same thing. Maybe not so much in a foreign country, but here in the US. Is it fair? Well, no one argues anymore that life is fair.

Bitter? Yes you are. I'm one of those guys who can afford his time, so before you go bashing folks you know nothing about, how about looking at yourself first. Just because you can't afford his time doesn't make him a bad guy. They can all be just simple whores darling.

Defending yourself? Really?! Did you even read the thread before you snarked in? I was just using you as an example of why some people don't post reviews. No one is bitter... No one says you're a bad guy. Take a deep breath.... Exhale.... Ahhhhhhh All better? Now back to that ol blog....

I think you may be on to something here. This may be a case of marking his territory.

In my mind, if you like him, you would want someone to sweep in and shower him with good things. That is what is best for him IMHO. And, even if it is not best, it should be his choice and not someone else. In my mind, we need to review all those that are good so they can be given the choices to make in life. There are so many escorts out there that one less in a city is not going to make that big a difference, even in the smaller areas. I have always reviewed with the hopes that someone would swoop in and buy them the yacht that I can't afford to buy them. But, I also am not the jealous type and I know that hiring an escort is simply that. I am hiring someone for his time. It is not a date and he is not my lover. Perhaps I have dreams that he will be that one day but I would not want to hold him back from getting other offers as if I do, the day will come when he finds them without my help and all the time and money invested to be sure I am THE one is wasted.

I remember many years ago with Marc Anthony reviewing Escort Ryan from Vegas. I had to have him so I flew to Vegas with my boyfriend. We met and I had a great time with him and he became one of my best friends for years. Marc was not looking for a best friend escort at that time and I did so many wonderful things for this guy over the years that I hope Marc never got jealous and always was happy that I had done some nice things for the boy over the years. If I had not read that review, the boy would not have moved to NYC or ..... I could do on. But, the opportunity that Marc gave the guy changed his life. And, it was all from one review. I guess I just want others to have the same opportunity.

I didn't see that as a bitter statement. I do wonder if your statement "guys can afford his time" reveals more about you than it does about what you consider a bitter statement.

It's quite the mixed blessing isn't it? I would certainly wish the best for those guys I see regularly, but after having lost a treasured favorite to the "bidding wars" (actually he moved across country and I can't visit as often as I'd like), I redirect my newer pursuits to those guys who have something else going on in their lives... being a student and suffering those insane tuition bills, a single dad trying to make ends meet with a low-wage job, a struggling actor/artist, any number of un(der)employed guys that are willing to enter into a win-win arrangement to ease the pain in this recession. Bottom line, I can't really afford the "sugar daddy" role so I'm happy with "generous friend with benefits".

I admire your selfless purity of heart in wanting the best for your guys, even though their success takes them out of the range of your affordability, but my cynical side observes that you do stand to gain a tad from an inrush of new rentboy reviews. Nevertheless, I thank you from the bottom of my heart because you are performing an awesome service here, and I have offered to all my current guys to give them a review if they wish. My most frequent regular is a bit paranoid and only wants personal referrals, the others are "meh" (Tony: "the reviews are all written by the escorts themselves anyway")... so I'm not going to twist their arms or anything. But I'll keep taking their temperature on the matter.

I'm traveling to Texas for the holidays so if I see Jason or any visiting out-of-towners, I will enscribe my fetish fueled experiences for the prurient enjoyment of all concerned.

"I have offered to all my current guys to give them a review if they wish."

Sounds like you may have more in common with those rich guys you mention! All your current guys?

Do you keep a roster? ^_^

I am not a rich guy... (in Christine O'Donnell's voice) I'm you.

Don't keep a roster... it just works out that way - with qualifiers and rotating top slot and everything :P LA is a good place for hiring!

I love regulars and my fetish suits their interests...besides I'm a pushover and too easy to please.

Top dude is unmatchably generous with his time - 6 hr sessions @ $200. How better to spend a Saturday afternoon? (as he snickers over my shoulder while I type this). I tip well though. Plus dinner and a movie...

You may not believe this but this site has not made me one penny over the years. I have put more money into it than you would imagine and we keep trying new things with advertising. What I stand to gain is not monetary. That being said, I do appreciate you asking your regulars if they wish a review. If they have never gotten one, I don't think they quite understand the importance it could play on their life.

I was never jealous of anything you did, Oz. Just a little jealous of Ryan and some of the other boys who got everything you showered on them! I guess I was just a bit too old to qualify! ^_^

haha!! j/k Man did we have some good times together.

There is so much beauty in this world... so many opportunities.... it's human nature to feel a little jealous sometimes, but if you let that feeling consume you or guide too many of your actions, boy do you miss out....

That is awesome that you're dedicated to making it work despite being not profitable. I'm kind of surprised that f4f and some of the other advertisers haven't paid off over the years, but colo and traffic costs are high, especially with all the graphics. I would love to do it myself as well if I could only break about even, but I doubt that the target audience would warrant any more dilution. I know it's a labor of love, and doing it for the guys in the industry is a wonderful thing! There are simply not enough resources as good as yours around.

Yea, cynicism abounds with this lot :P. I could playfully beg, but I don't want to hit them upside the head with a surprise review and strangers burning up their iPhones... unless they give me a sign.

Marc its nice to see that those years of intense therapy after what OZ did to you worked so well :P

When I lived in Las Vegas I met about a dozen guys from the other site. Whenever they would want my thoughts on a local escort I was totally honest with them. But since each has a difference experience what might work for me might not work for TY or Lucky. So I always tried to be as factual as possible.

Now if I had met OZ back then and I told him about a escort and that escort went on to other things or fee went through the roof ... in all probability I would have little feelings one way or the other. I do not feel an escort belongs to me ... he is hired as a companion hopefully does a great job and we both move on. If I cannot afford him the next time around I do not think OZ ruined it for me ... I just move on ... its not as if the escort was my bf stolen from me.

I feel those who are not honest about an escort wrongly feel some sort of entitlement and are very possessive people. I think xenophile makes a good point about wealthier guys jacking up prices however I do not agree his point is valid. That is what a free market and fair market value are all about. Besides how many end up like BN or Ryan? There are hundreds of hot boys out there at reasonable prices.

Clients who lie in their recommendations to keep the escorts to themselves are despicable, no question about it, and that's what this thread was originally about. The rich guy thing was a diversion, every guy I've found it worth going back to after some time has generously either offered me the old rate, or their rate for regular clients, usually a more than fair deal. I've felt so guilty about some of their discounts that I gave them a large tip, so I really have nothing to complain about.

I guess I was indirectly whining about rate inflation and the unaffordability of many of the pros here in the US. But you're totally right, it's a competitive marketplace in this recession, there are hundreds of hot guys at good prices, vastly more if you outsource. The ad sites offer supermodel guys at high rates to wealthy sponsors. The budget conscious have to work a bit harder, that's always been the case.
