Yes, I see your point... but I have to demur a bit. Personally, I find such a high degree of 'photoshopping', or whatever digital manipulation was used, puts an insurmountable barrier between me and the guy. I simply can't see the image as a real person; probably because, in truth, he isn't any longer.

When I first saw this picture, I didn't think it was a photo. It didn't look real. I thought it was a painting or one of those 3D cartoon drawings. He is so flawless and perfect. He should quickly get an artist to paint him and put the painting in the attic.

Not wrong . . . he's attractive in a kind of untouchable way. But is he Thai, or even Asian? He doesn't look it close up.

 

Watching Thai soap operas and you might notice that many of the younger actors have distinctly Caucasian features. Almost makes one think that ~ in Thailand's show biz or modeling industry ~ the more western he/she appears, the better.

 

Not sure about that ... but whatever, this guy looks more like a pouty young California skate boarder.

Nobody said that he is Thai or Asian. For me the giveaways are the beautiful coarse black hair, the slanty eyes and the lightly olive toned skin. It turns out that he is Chinese.

He looks Asian to me. The nose has been worked on; the perfect jaw line and flawless olive complexion are probably the result of computerised image enhancement. The Pan Asian look that some have alluded to, and as evidenced here, has been in for a long time. It represents the best of East and West: sharp yet still apparent oriental features on an apple-shaped face (as opposed to a pear-shaped face associated with farmers and the lower social classes), set on smooth, non-freckled Asian skin. It's exotic, it signifies wealth. It's not uncommon to find guys looking like him among the hi-so set in SE Asia. Many a gay Thai guy would kill for the chance to bed him.

 

That's not to say that only the rich have it good. I have encountered similar looking boys on the Thai-Burmese border, mainly Tai-Yais in refugee camps as well as in Xinjiang, West China and in Central Asia where they've got that gorgeous Chinese, Middle Eastern and European blend.

 

The single eyelid, thin-lipped, hardcore Han Chinese look is (re)gaining popularity in Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong as an East Asian gay identity begins to flourish through events like The Nation. Personally, nothing puts me off more than an Oriental Macho Mary with manicured fingers and dubious English skills. You can hear them from a mile off and I avoid them like the plague. It's my personal bias; either you're naturally rugged and athletic like a Thai farm boy raised on som tam and fish sauce, or you're prissy and purdy (like moi)!

"Disturbingly beautiful" is an apt description. I believe previous posters have picked up on the photo enhancement of facial features (and probably abs as well) and possibly some surgical improvemetns. He's certainly not pure Chinese. His protographer seems (as Smiles points out) to be shooting for that pouty surfer look. Having said that, the product of all these efforts is certainly impressive.

 

But he's not why I--or the vast majority of you guys--travel halfway around the world to the LOS. I'm not seeking perfect features or hi-so guys. If you're so inclined, you can find them in New York, Toronto, London or Hong Kong. We're looking for a natural beauty that cannot be improved upon by anything more complicated than physical labor.

Let's not be too quick to write him off as an artificial composite. He is a model and therefore an exception. There are guys who look like that and occasionally you might encounter an unpolished version in places like Albury.

 

I think we can agree that he is not representative of Asian guys in general. Watching Miss Universe, I might be forgiven for thinking that all South American women are WHITE, tall, big-bosomed and incredibly vivacious. Similarly, an Isaarn boy who's diet of western culture comprises of gorgeous Hollywood stars will starve when he goes to Pattaya.

 

I'm not seeking perfect features or hi-so guys. If you're so inclined, you can find them in New York, Toronto, London or Hong Kong. We're looking for a natural beauty that cannot be improved upon by anything more complicated than physical labor.

 

You can find them in Bangkok too but whether they'd be interested in the average farang who goes to Thailand is another matter.

 

Interestingly, many of these rural, "natural beauty" types would have no qualms about going under the knife to alter their looks. Penile enhancement, skin whitening, rhinoplasty and double-eyelid surgery are very, very common. You can get a nose job for 8,000Bt at Chiang Mai General Hospital and I know many boys who've had it. The ones on monthly retainers even go for laser surgery to have their wrinkles removed and pores tightened. Just check out the professional student types who hang out in Silom Soi 4 and Chiang Mai's The Peak. Some of them are beginning to look quite scary from botched surgeries and fake Botox.

Point well taken: I've probably seen some of those types on Soi 4 but since that 's not what I'm in Bangkok for they quickly disappear from my screen. I'm aware that some men--and women--seek perfection and are willing to go to extremes (i.e., paying retainers) to sustain their quest.

 

I guess this brings us full circle and back to our disturbingly beautiful model. I certainly wouldn't kick him out of bed. But since he's never going to end up there anyway, it's a waste of energy to pursue the pleasure of the thought. I suppose it's like the addiction of pornography: it's insatiable. I prefer to pursue the attainable and satisfying.
