I was meeting a friend for dinner Friday nite and we decided to meet in day nite area.. Every restaurant was dead and or deserted and it was spooky on a Friday nite at a prime time.. Even

Luxor only had two or three tables full and many had no one at all.. My friend had been to Jomtien earlier that day and said it was very very quiet.. Last week was very busy and this week very quiet..

We were wondering how the restaurants can stay in business with no customers on a traditionally big nite like a Friday but I guess they know how.. No need to make reservations at the moment in Pattaya.. Even Niddy's Nook was quiet... B)

What surprise me the most is July and August are the months of High Season.

People comes and goes on vacation. So it should be busy.

Also on a friday night, life should be more active than any other night no ? Well to my suprise, a week day can be as busy as a friday or saturday night in any other big city.

I also wonder how all those restaurants can remain open with such low business.

The traffic is a different story.

I have to correct my answer , as I might have confused some people out there....

What I was trying to say, is being from Europe I know the month of July and August are very high season. July and August, many peope fly all over the world, instead of staying home.

So I would guess may tourist would fly over here in Thailand and bar and restaurant would be busy. But that's not what I have seen in the last 3 years.

The first time I came over there was in the middle of September. Well It was really busy. And I could not understand why a month such as September would bring so many people than July or August.

I also know may people who are in Thailand as tourist are from Europe and America.

I also believe that Middle of september isn't the best time for people to be on vacation, because of work and maybe because of family.

So I hope this will clear things up and prevent the head-scratching moment from now on and bring back a smile on people's face :)

Well yes you are a little confused I can see that Stef, if you are from The Americas or Europe you go to The Americas or Europe for your Vacation, when its hot in those countries, when its getting cold usually November you make your way long distance to Thailand, as October is renown for being the wettest month in Thailand Pattaya, most Guys find them self getting itchy to cum to Thailand for the wonderful weather and everything else it has to offer.

As for there being not many people in the Restaurants yes your right , because there are not a lot of people here for the reasons above, you can gauge the amount of people by either looking into Pan Pan or Luxor Restaurants, I have been to Jomtien Complex a few times of late and can see so few guys there a sprinkle in Queens Musci Bar, I was In Olivier's and that has its fair share, but never see many In Poseidon any more, as it use to be very popular, what happened to Za Zaz, these days even Bondi is struggling with a very few Customers, I did look in the Haunted Hutch and there were about 12 people guzzling drinks at 75 bhat a shot and eating the 150 baht grub, but apart from that is was a ghost town

I also walked through Boys Town counted 4 in Panorama about 9.30pm all the rest had very few customers at all. I know for some reason Saturday is renown for just a few people out and about but Sunee Plaza still has more then its fair share, even though most at the moment are scratching the bottom of the barrel for the best of Guyz, so when the few bars that have some they are queuing before opening time to grab the good ones.

Some one was saying on here they dont know how they survive in the low season, obviously a guy who had a safe Job in a shop or working for a large Company, because if he was a businessman he would know you never look at the takings of just one week one month, you look over the year, to see how your doing and then divided that by 12 or you would shoot your self here, as its the very low season now, we dont want any more people jumping or getting pushed of high precipices. .

Thanks for your explanation Stef, and for adding more replies to a rather mundane thread on Sawatdee. (You could have at least given plug/link to your sojourn on The Den of Iniquity, as I did in my message there). Come on over anytime, but leave some of your Members here, OK.

Also thanks for sneaking my handle slyly into your post above, as well as some meds advice for picked-at scalps.

Cheers ....

Well welcome to you Dear :)

here is the info : http://www.ayurvedapura.com/

Check it out, you might find it very interesting in fact.

And sneaking your handle into my post was just fun. You made a great choice by having it :) "Smile"

As I often hear here in Thailand " Be happy " but I also love when people smile :)

In France, people have something like 2 to 4 weeks of vacation during the summer. That's when they will go for the long flight abroad.

Spending over 10 hours in an airplane for less than 2 weeks on vacation during the winter isn't that good. Unless you are like me and you don't mind living on a regular basis with Jetlag :) and flying from a country to an other in just a matter of days. But I don't think the majority of people do that.

Come on guys.. Is there really anyone who didn't understand that July and August are the busiest

travel and vacation months in Europe and the USA? Stef, you are amazingly polite and a honey to boot and have the right temperment to moderate this forum..

And Smiles, are you bored back at Sawatdee?... and iniviting Stef, but not his members seems a little

elitist to me especially when Sawatdee is troll-ridden and troll infested.. Maybe it is Hedda you

don't want , but what makes you think you are such a prize.. If you are coming over for a bit of Hedda bashing, stay away and keep the Hedda bashing threads and posts away and maybe we

won't have the colonel and the rest of the crazies infesting this forum as well...

Even Earwig has been on good behavior , at least , so far.. More traffic on this forum would be welcome but if it comes without the same old rehashed to death, obsessive topics, it would be great... ;)

It certainly does not seem that busy around Gay Bangkok or Pattaya at the moment. Bars, Restaurants, Hotels and the beach seem quiet for this time of the year.

June is usually very quiet and the come the school holidays, which start in July, there is traditionally a surge. This is reflected in the airfares which go up late June.

This year, for the Gay market, it does not seem to have happened to the usual degree. The top spots seem reasonably busy but not 100%.

Can it be The World Soccer Cup, rises in plane fares, political unrest?

However we seem to hear this every year.

It's high season for travel in Europe & America but nearly all the e-mail I'm receiving from travel sites is re resort destinations\family destinations, (Disney) closer to home and cruises, which might indicate these are the today's most popular summer destinations.

A friend told me she wanted to bring her 14 & 16 y.o. to a Thailand island. A phone call saved me from a reply. A couple days later the tsunami hit and she changed her mind. To me, taking a couple or three sophisticated, spoiled primary school age children to Thailand would be a living hell on earth! Constant whinging, "I'm sooo bored," "It's too hot!" "I want a REAL Big Mac!" "I HATE Thai food." "They eat Bugs!!!" "This mall is LAME!" And if they are older teens; sneaking out to sample the 'joys' of Thai nightlife, and I don't mean a clandestine burger a la Nookies but some real, old fashioned nookie.

We think its quite busy in Pattaya at the moment.

Last night we were in the walking street and yes it was packed.

Last night we visited some lady gogo bars and yes they were packed.

Last night we visit some boys gogo bars and yes they were unpacked.

Many Europeans ,Russians etc are spending there summer holidays in Pattaya.

Many family with kids in town.

Straight Pattaya is booming. Gay Pattaya is not !!

Why ?

We do not know.

Could it be the prices and quality of the drinks they are serving in the gaybars.

A draft heineken beer in a top lady gogo bar( all the girls naked) 50 baht.

For us it was a surprise to see how booming the straight night life in Pattaya is.

Many disco style gogobars with hundreds of good looking young girls.

For sure straight Pattaya has much more to offer as Gay Pattaya.

We are thinking of going straight for a while.

So if you gays are looking for us. try the peppermint bar windmill or any other girly bar .

Is there any forum like this for straight people in Pattaya ?
