As if we needed to know yet more about La Palin's pathologies...

http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2010/10/sarah-palin-201010?currentPage=1

I can't stand Palin but saw little of value and nothing of depth in this article... Couldn't stand the way it was written, the constant self-excusing for lack of depth due to people's fear which was odd when combined with being as explicit as possible about the identity of one of the only people who spoke--only to provide a sentence of info that was also heard from other sources.

The article is 8 pages long with maybe 1-2 pages of content, and none of that is revelatory. I think John Stewart or Rachel Maddow have often done a more thorough job of reporting these things, in 5-10 minutes at that.

Hm. I thought the primary documentation of her craziness was something a bit new on the reportage scene.

Maybe I just too much like seeing her flayed.

You may well be right. I thought most of it was out there too, but VF did bring lots of it together in one place. Kind of like Popular Psychology running a feature on the Festrunk brothers.

Wild and crazy? Or Political Timber?

Maybe I just too much like seeing her flayed.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. mellow.gif

Freely given, with knobs on. smile.gif

First to admit I'm a political naif, so I'm not aware just when we began the tradition of running our wackos for office. There's Tail-Gunner Joe McCarthy, of course, and probably a host of state and local officials, but when did the loonies first begin campaigning for national office? Perot was the first to get my attention, but it must have begun before that.

Who started the custom? buffo1.gif

Great question. One could maybe argue that Goldwater was an early example. Although by comparison with today's nuts he looks like a rock-ribbed icon of sanity.

How about Palin/Huckabee in 2012? (thumbs up emoticon that TY refuses to provide. :P Hey, Matrix ain't the only one here who can be persistant in his suggestions.)

Apparently most professional Republican apparatchics and a large chunk of their nomenklatura are starting to get creeped out by that particular vision of their future. And more than a little frightened of its increasing plausibility.

Reap what you sow, fellows, reap what you sow. <_<

Anyone here still remember the ABM (Anybody But McGovern) coalition in the Democratic party?

Oh, the nut jobs go far far further back than that.

Check out William Jennings Bryan.

Also William Randolf Hearst thought about running and almost did, but instead just manipulated all the politicians with his newspapers.

First Turd Blossom, now Sister Sarah. Keep going Fox, only 298 more to go!

NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Palin is out as a Fox News Channel contributor.

The network said Friday that it is parting ways with the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.

Bill Shine, executive vice president at Fox News, said the network has enjoyed its association with Palin and wishes her the best. There was no immediate comment from the former Alaska governor.

Well, glutes, it is nice to see that you have not lost your ability to find threads buried in the archives. You must have a great memory or a super-skillful search engine!

"How is Czech Republic not a Muslim country?" You go Sister Sarah!

Sarah Palin Calls for Invasion of Czech Republic
Apr. 22, 2013

<0128-sarah-palin-political-career_full_600-257x171.jpg>
Sarah Palin called for the invasion of the Czech Republic today in response to the recent terrorist attacks in Boston.

In an interview with Fox News, the former governor of Alaska said that although federal investigators have yet to complete their work, the time for action is now.

"We don't know everything about these suspects yet," Palin told
Fox and Friends
this morning, referring to Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who allegedly carried out the Boston Marathon attacks. "But we know they were Muslims from the Czech Republic.

"I betcha I speak for a lot of Americans when I say I want to go over there right now and start teaching those folks a lesson. And let's not stop at the Czech Republic, let's go after all Arab countries.

"The Arabians need to learn that they can't keep comin' over here and blowing stuff up. Let's set off a couple of nukes in Islamabad, burn down Prague, then bomb the heck out of Tehran. We need to show them that we mean business."
Can't See Russia...

Although hosts Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson applauded Palin's jingoism, they immediately attempted to rectify her multiple geographic errors.

"Well Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan, which isn't Arab," Carlson corrected, "and Tehran is the capital of Iran, which is predominantly Persian. But I do see your point."

"Also Czech Republic isn't really an Arab or even Muslim country, I don't think," Doocy added, "but otherwise what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I think most Americans wish Obama would step up and lead on this one."

Palin, however, didn't take kindly to being corrected and defended her analysis.

"Steve, that's probably one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. How is Czech Republic not a Muslim country? You saw those brothers, they were Islamic and they were Chechen!"

"Yes there were Muslim and they were ethnic Chechens," Doocy started, "but they
mostly in Kyrgyzstan and the United States. And more importantly, Chechens don't come from the Czech Republic, they come from Chechnya, which is part of Russia. "

"What's the difference?" Palin responded. "Isn't Russia part of the Czech Republic?"

"No, the Czech Republic is a separate country. It's part of the European Union and a strong NATO ally," Doocy noted. "But heck, why not? Let's invade. What could go wrong?"

"Yeah and while we're at it," Carlson added, "let's call the Queen of England and see if the U.K. will join us."

In a statement released after the interview, Palin attacked
Fox News
and its "pro-Islamic" and "pro-geography" bias.

"This is just another case of the politically correct liberal media refusing to tell the truth about radical Islam," she said.
