Members JKane Posted September 1, 2010 Members Posted September 1, 2010 Just put a new drive in my laptop with a fresh install. Can't get this site to remember my login. If I close the browser and re-open I can't post, etc. until I login again. Maybe part of the bug, when I login I get something about you MUST set your geographic location, I choose North America and it fucks up. In Mozilla it goes to a blank screen and stays there, in IE it goes straight into the page I was on, never lets me specify a city and doesn't remember I set even North America next time. I hope there's a solution for this, it's *really* bloody annoying! Quote
Guest FourAces Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Just a out of left field thought ... do you have the browser set to accept cookies? Most likely you have checked that already but its the only thing I can think of. Hopefully OZ or TY will know more. That would drive me a bit crazy too. Quote

Everything in both browsers is still defaults, both browsers do it, and I did check in firefox that it's set to accept cookies. I think something is broken with the site's ability to send the initial 'remember me' cookie now, possibly because it gets distracted with demanding my location which can't complete. The site does send other cookies, for example whatever closes the tabs on the left, that does get remembered. If you go to 'my profile/account', 'my profile', then change location, can you get through it to setting a city in North America? Quote
Guest FourAces Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 OZ just posted a thread in Lucky's place that they went through a forum upgrade. Maybe your issues are a result of that? Quote

There is a time constant in the software that resets that cookie after that interval of inactivity, I believe. It is a security issue for us and also for you. The location query is a feature Oz added to help locate local talent. Before issuing a bug hunting safari to tech support could you try clearing your browsers cache/temp files to see if that makes any difference in behavior. It would be helpful. Thanks. Quote

I'm logged out even if I close and immediately re-open. In both Mozilla and IE (8). Sounds like a bug... the fuck up and the blank screen, respectively. When I logged in again it didn't prompt me for location, seems to login fine, but I am logged out again as soon as I restart the browser. Quote
Members JKane Posted September 2, 2010 Author Members Posted September 2, 2010 Well, I tried restoring the cookies.sqlite file from the backup of my Mozilla profile from before and the site now knows who I am when I first get here. But I still think there may be a bug with it giving out the initial cookie now. Other sites were working fine, Hotmail remebered me, for example. Quote
Members JKane Posted September 29, 2010 Author Members Posted September 29, 2010 About a week or so ago my cookie must've expired and I am back to having the exact same problem. Can not 'remember me on this computer', have to login each time. Often it tells me I must set geographic location, but won't let me. Just tried both browsers again, in firefox I select North America and then it goes nowhere, never lets me specify city. In IE it goes back to the main page, also never asks for city and doesn't remember North America either when I check/try to change through 'my profile'. Here's the page Firefox can't show: http://www.maleescortreview.com/index.php?file=reset_location&MSG=p Could an Admin set my location in my profile? USA/Los Angeles. I'm curious if clearing that hurdle will let the site give me a cookie. It's still really annoying, and I don't understand why others aren't having these problems also. There's nothing special about the Win7 install I did nor the security settings in the web browsers. Quote

If I close the browser and re-open I can't post, etc. until I login again. Pretty much the way it works for me. I believe the active-login cookie is wiped on close down. It should remember your ID and password though if you have asked it to, but you still have to actually press the enter key to login. At least that is the way I think it is suppose to work. I never ask for password to be remembered for secuity reason so I'm surmising here. Maybe part of the bug, when I login I get something about you MUST set your geographic location, I choose North America and it fucks up. In Mozilla it goes to a blank screen and stays there, in IE it goes straight into the page I was on, never lets me specify a city and doesn't remember I set even North America next time. I checked the set/change location function for your login and there is a bug. I apologize for that and will report it to our programmers. I do have have the capcacity to reset your location. That has to be done either through your login (not working) or by the progammers. FYI I ALWAYS ignore the location request and go to where I desire straightaway. I adivse you do the same unless you are looking for any escort in your backyard. Ignoring it never has caused me and Vista/IE8 a problem or Firefox either. First, always clear your temp files/cache at the first sign of anything unusual. Second restart your browser. Third restart your computer and try again before ever modifying settings or software. These probably are not the issue but 4 out of 5 times one of these works. When you say you did a 'fresh install' exactly what did you do? It seems that it was Windows 7 reinstall? Whatever it was caused a change in your computer accessing our site so it seems a good idea that we understand what that was. Quote

When you say you did a 'fresh install' exactly what did you do? It seems that it was Windows 7 reinstall? The login in general is working like crap for me, even when I do it manually. Sometimes it doesn't take, or if I forget and start browsing the forums there's no way to get it to show me the pictures (log me in) to a page already opened. Quote
