TotallyOz Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I hope that those that have been there can share a list of recommended hotels that they have stayed at that don't mind visitors. Also, are there apartments that are available to rent there that are more on the high end side? If so, where can I find them? Quote
Guest tomcal Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 OZ, I can field this question!! LOL I posted this about a year and 1/2 ago but it's still the same: There is a upscale part of the city called "Moinhos de Vento", shops/restaurants/parks set along tree shaded streets in a great area. The Sheraton there is really nice and has always been my first choice when going there. Second choice is the hotel chain in the same area , the Mercure Manhatten and Mercure Beverly Hills. They are more like Embassy suites here in the U.S. with a living area, small kitchen area and bedroom. They generally run about $80+ U.S., The Sheraton is around $140. U.S., this one would be one of the higher end ones if it was in the U.S., very nice. They are about a 10 min or less cab ride from the saunas and bars previously mentioned and about 15 min. max from the airport I have never had a problem bringing guests in, even at 2:00 a.m.! I have never stayed in a apartment there as I am usually always there for a Friday Arrival and Monday departure... I can't imagine staying Mon. thru thurs..pretty boring.. but if I could I would go every weekend!! :-) Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Thanks. I have a desire to get an apartment in Brazil. Rio and Sao Paulo just keep going up high with the rents. I don't mind a boring M-F. If I am tired from the weekend, I'll have to rest up anyway. I remembered you talked about the Sheraton. I have talked to them several times but they don't like giving long term rates. I also see the Holiday Inn is there. I guess I just have to go there for a month and test this and see if I like the city. That said, my favorite boy of all time in Sao Paulo just got a divorce. He says he wants me to live with him. aka get an apartment and let him live with me. What to do what to do what to do. Quote

If it's a case of roommates with benefits, that would pretty well offset the cost of an apartment. And M-F you wouldn't have to taxi down to the saunas to find someone to rest up with. Quote
