Guest FourAces Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 The Internet is so awesome. But before the Internet I would think a fair amount of us here had to use other means to find escorts. For me the main method was hiring from the Advocate's Pink Pages. The Pink Pages were a seedy mash up of various types of ads. I could hardly wait for the new edition to hit my mail box every two weeks. I found a few fun guys from those well read pages also plenty of ink smudges on my fingers afterward. I think my most memorable hire was porn actor Marc Radcliff. He was amazing in and out of bed. Sadly I read a while back he died at a very young age. I also had one other favorite way to hire ... the long gone art of cruising Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. Some really good times meeting, hanging out and hiring pretty much whatever I desired. Two areas I did not venture into were bars or agencies. Both had very little appeal to me. How did you find your treats in the old days? Quote
Guest Daddy Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 How did you find your treats in the old days? I personally dressed up as a dog, hung out in the park, and barked and rolled over a lot. Quote

Guest FourAces Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I used to love cruising Santa Monica Blvd. The guys called us "gas queens." LOL now that is funny I had not heard that expression before. But it was true and gas was affordable enough to do so without concern Yep my main route was to begin at SMB and Highland heading west. I rarely made it past Orange as back in the day there was so many guys to select from in just those few blocks. Then if I was in the mood for a hardcore Latino I would begin the same place but head east usually having luck way before reaching Vine. I miss those days. They were quite a bit of fun Quote
Guest CharliePS Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I found my first escorts (they were called "models" then, I believe) through the pink pages, also. Later, the Advocate had a separate publication that included the same kind of print ads. NYC publications like Next and H/X also had print ads, and at least once I hired someone from a post-it on the bulletin board at the Eagle in NYC. Many ads had no photos, and even the photos they had were not very informative, so one had to depend on the advertiser's self-description, which was sometimes outrageously inaccurate. More than once I hired the same guy, without realizing until I got to his front door that he was just using a different ad; one guy I hired four times in two different cities because of that. The only way to contact the escort was by phone, and in those days before cellphones, that often meant making an appt., then calling from a pay phone on the street when one got near his building. Ah, the memories! Quote
Guest tomcal Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 My first "professional" hire was in '96 and it was through one of the few straight agencies in Las Vegas that also advertized "men". Back than I had to go to Las Vegas every other month on business and over the course of the year met several guys who I ended up seeing regularly over the next couple of years. I also was going to NYC every 3 months or so and I met Micheal Lucas thru a ad in HX magazine, I ended up seeing him over the next 5 or so years. My favorite bars to meet guys in those days were Stellas in NYC(where I first met Lucky! when Cooper introduced us) and the Gaiety! Numbers in L.A. where I met many guys between '96 and 2003, and the old Boardwalk in Miami, where many Argentians were working pre 9/11 and where they would walk around the bar with hard dicks and you could do alot while sitting there on the barstool! I was going there every 3 months or so and thought I had found Heaven! LOL Of all of these, the only one still open and that I have still met guys as recently as this year is the Boardwalk! Quote
