Delta: Complimentary Upgrade on SkyMiles Award Tickets

Recommended Posts

Posted

e-mail from Delta:

We are happy to announce the start of our newest benefit — Complimentary Medallion® Upgrades on SkyMiles Award Tickets, including all tickets redeemed through the Pay with Miles program. SkyMiles is the only program to offer this benefit which takes effect immediately.

You've earned these Award Tickets, so your upgrades will clear in your corresponding Medallion window after all revenue tickets have cleared. Upgrades will be automatically requested when you make an Award reservation on most Delta flights within or between the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico and Central and Northern South America.

In other upgrade news, we will continue to offer unlimited Complimentary Medallion Upgrades for traveling companions and have made them even better:

Complimentary upgrade requests for Medallions and companions who are traveling together will now begin clearing 24 hours prior to departure rather than the previous 12 hours.

And, Complimentary Companion Upgrades are now available on all deeply discounted L, U and T Economy fares.

Some of you have asked us to clear companions with Medallions in your corresponding upgrade window.

However, after careful consideration and significant customer input, companions will continue to be upgraded only after all other Medallions, since most Medallions do not want to lose their upgrade seat to companions with no status.

For more details on these changes and other Medallion benefits, please visit delta.com/medallion.

We look forward to seeing you onboard soon.

Speaking of airlines, this from gawker.com:

You know when you get a seat on an airplane that's closer to the door and it's awesome when you're deboarding? American Airlines has now named those seats "Express Seats" and will charge you more money for them. Happy flying.

Express seats? What a joke. Some airlines now charge for food, special seats, baggage checked in and some are talking about fees for carry on bags. When is it going to stop?
